It is officially November and we are already thinking ahead to Thanksgiving. Whether it is your first time hosting or you host every year, Thanksgiving is a big undertaking. Having family and friends over for a holiday can seem incredibly overwhelming, but we are here to help!

Here are five tips that we have picked up over the years to keep your Thanksgiving party stress-free and fabulous.

  • Create a Game Plan

As event planners we are obviously fans of creating a detailed plan in advance. Start thinking about logistics early on. Where will everyone sit? What glassware, plates and flatware will you use? Will you cook everything or will guests provide dishes?

Get these questions out of the way from the start of your planning process so you can focus on the details.

  • Do Your Shopping In Advance

There is nothing worse than heading to the store around Thanksgiving to find major items out of stock. Any non-perishable items you can get in advance will make your shopping experience much more pleasant and manageable.

  • Not Everything has to be homemade

The secret to successful and easy entertaining is not over doing it! Commit yourself to a tasty few recipes that you know you make, and buy a few things from the store as well. While trying to make every pie from scratch may sound like a fun challenge, buying one from a local bakery will make your life so much easier!

  • Take Inventory

Take some kitchen inventory and make sure you have everything you need for Thanksgiving. Picking out china, glasses, as well as all your platters, cooking tools and serving utensils ahead of time will reduce any entertaining stress!

  • Set Your Table (Early!)

Why wait to set the table on Thanksgiving Day when you can do it the night before? Laying out your table scape ahead of time will eliminate a large amount of time from your day and allow you to focus on the food & drinks!
