Calluna Events is a boutique wedding planning company now in our 15th wedding season! We are a dynamic group of women who love creating weddings! Since 2004 we have been creating memorable weddings and special events, many of which been featured in the top wedding publications from Martha Stewart Weddings, Style Me Pretty, BRIDES, The Knot, Rocky Mountain Bride, and many more. Above all else we value creating fresh, inspired weddings that truly represent our couple. We want your guests to walk into your wedding and feel that it reflects the two of you and the details should be authentic and timeless. Heather Dwight started Calluna Events in 2004 after working in non-profit and corporate events for 10 years. With a vibrant and captivating sense of style, Heather is one of the most sought-after wedding planners in Colorado, and the visionary behind Calluna Events being recognized as The Knot’s Best of Weddings (2008-2018), The Knot Best of Weddings Hall of Fame and the winner of Wedding Wire Bride’s Choice Award. Heather serves as the Director of Communications on the WIPA Colorado Board of Directors. Clients describe Heather as having a sophisticated, yet calming confidence, allowing her to be a true advocate for her clients’ vision. She loves mindful design, style and immaculate detail. Spice Jones, a native of Atlanta, Georgia, joined the Calluna Events team in 2006 for the opportunity to combine a background in film producing with her love for creating beautiful celebrations. Spending 14 years collaborating with the country’s top art directors and wardrobe designers gave Spice the “everything is possible!” excitement that Calluna Events brings to each and every event. Through the little details, her passion is finding fresh and exciting ways to match time honored traditions with today’s modern styles. Along with her experience, Spice brings the confident professionalism and fun personality that have become the trademarks of Calluna Events.

GABRIELE SARBAUGH

Lead Planner

Gabriele Sarbaugh (Lead Planner), a native of Boulder, Colorado joined Calluna Events in 2007 as an intern, using the opportunity to nurture her excitement and interest in event and wedding planning while completing college requirements. During her growth with Calluna Events, Gabbie has mastered the use of her innate sense of organization and attention to detail to be able to realize the potential of every wedding and event. Gabbie loves the challenge and complexity of adapting the planning process to each event, and bringing all the detailed pieces together. And she loves getting to know each of her clients and being a part of their special day.

LAUREN GROEPER

Lead Planner

Lauren is a native of Chicago, Illinois with over seven years of experience in the event planning industry. She found her passion for weddings at an early age while attending many of her large Irish family’s weddings all throughout the country and celebrating with them. A graduate of The University of Iowa, she got her start planning corporate events in the Windy City before diving head first into the wedding industry here in the Rockies. Before joining Calluna Events, she started the Chancey Charm Denver franchise where she worked for several years gaining experience both as a business owner and wedding planner. She loves good food, good company and a great party, and enjoys assisting others with the details so that they can truly enjoy those big, memorable life events. Lauren’s poise, positivity and classic style puts her clients at ease, and helps her to coordinate timeless events to remember as a member of Calluna’s team.

FRANCESCA DEORIO

Lead Planner

Francesca DeOrio is a native New Yorker who has worked in the hospitality industry for over a decade. She originally joined the Boulder-based The Kitchen restaurant group as a college student and has since worked in a variety of roles in several of their restaurants. Her background in hospitality management, restaurant operations and events coordination has honed her ability to multi-task her way through just about any project. Francesca and Calluna owner, Heather Dwight, first worked together when they collaborated on an event at The Kitchen Next Door. At the time, Francesca was the general manager and events planner. It was immediately evident that events managed by Francesca balanced good humor and positive thinking with innate problem-solving skills and a thorough eye for detail. Her extensive experience at The Kitchen restaurant group combined with her passionate enthusiasm for event and wedding planning makes Francesca a perfect addition to the Calluna Events team.

MICHELLE WAGNER

Lead Planner

Michelle Galuszka came to Calluna Events from Texas, where she spent years creating non-profit events. She has worked on a variety of different fundraising events throughout her career. Her expertise in creating a memorable evening for donors while keeping costs below budget is why she has been so successful. With over 10 years of experience in non profit events, Michelle decided to expand her event knowledge and become a trained wedding planner through the American Association of Certified Wedding Planners. She continued to work in the non profit field, but used her unique understanding of creating big events on a budget and began planning weddings independently. After a move to Colorado, Michelle was thrilled to join the Calluna Events team and continue to plan weddings and grow her event coordinating experience.

KRISTEN KENNEDY

Planner

Kristen Kennedy is a San Francisco native, but Colorado lover. She is a graduate of the University of Colorado and an event enthusiast. Her love for weddings began with her favorite movie, “The Father of the Bride”. Kristen has been a part of the Calluna team for over two years, and handles our “month-of” wedding coordination and a variety of other events. She loves the energy and excitement of any event, and thrives off of the happiness and satisfaction of the guests. She believes no detail is too small, and will go the extra mile to make everybody comfortable.

MELANIE ROBERTZ

Planner

Melanie Robertz (Associate Planner) came to Calluna Events as an eager intern and instantly fell in love with the world of weddings and events. The youngster of the team, Melanie wears the hat of assistant planner, social media fanatic, blogger extraordinaire and resident hopeless romantic. Finding inspiration and beauty in just about every avenue of life, she whole-heartedly believes every occasion is something worth celebrating. Melanie worked at the prestigious Crispin Porter + Bogusky for two years while moonlighting with Calluna. She currently does double duty working at Calluna Events while working with our friends at Artifact Uprising in their Marketing Department.

WORTH EVERY PENNY…..Looking back I would have paid her twice as much! I had only been engaged for 24 hour hours and I already knew who I would be asking to plan what would be the BIGGEST day of our lives. I had seen her work and heard her name and without even meeting her I had made my decision. Calluna Events! Heather Dwight! As we moved through the days, weeks, and months Heather continued to amaze me in countless ways. She carried the stress, managed the relationships, helped me make every decision (and made a lot for me 😉 ), lined up the vendors, reviewed the contracts, worked with Devil’s Thumb, handled every single detail, and most importantly brought my dreams to life! We arrived at Devil’s Thumb on July 21st….2 days before our wedding. Heather made sure that those 2 days were relaxing and worry-free. Nate and I were able to enjoy the days prior to our wedding all because of Heather and her adorable/dependable assistant Sammy! We spent time with our families and friends, hiked, went to the pool, ate, drank, slept, and enjoyed everything DTR had to offer. On the day of our wedding we had 3 moving trucks full of decor (every thing from chandeliers, a teepee, couches, tables, chargers, silverware, goblets, tons of flowers, a donuts wall, donuts, chairs, etc) , more vendors than I can remember, unloading, loading, setting up, putting together, and people coming and going in every direction. Calluna handled it all! There was ZERO stress. To say our wedding was a dream come true would be a total understatement! It was pure MAGIC! The most magical day of my life! It was perfect in every way. And if something went wrong…I never knew about it! Every vendor we used was because of Heather and every single one brought their A game. Calluna Events aka. Our Wedding Dream Team, KILLED IT! I always knew our wedding would be special but Calluna Events made it memorable in every possible way! WE LOVE YOU, HEATHER!!!!!

I think Heather spent about 1,000 + hours on me in the year that we planned the wedding. She is so calm, professional and knowledgable. We chose to get married at Brush Creek Ranch in Wyoming and from day one, Heather was in contact with the ranch’s team, setting up site visits, and beginning to coordinate all of the details. Put as concisely as possible, it cannot be easy to take a couple’s vision and make it real, but that is exactly what Calluna did. Heather knows all the best vendors, has fabulous taste & is incredibly organized.Heather & her team ran everything the day of the wedding. Not having to deal with one issue or oversee the set-up of the tent, dinner, flowers, ceremony, or reception cannot be valued. I’m a cinematographer with K Hodge Films. I’ve had the opportunity to work with Heather and her staff a number of times since 2011. From a vendor’s perspective, things couldn’t be run smoother. Everyone is well informed of everything going on and any issues or bumps in the road that come up are dealt with in a professional and respectful manner. My very first time working with Heather was for a wedding that ended up taking place less than 24 hours after my first born daughter came into this world. I was ecstatic and happy and also very much not wanting to leave my wife and newborn baby girl in the hospital. I called Heather and explained the situation and she was incredibly calm with me. This could’ve gone any number of ways… especially a private phone conversation happening behind the scenes. She could have yelled, she could have cursed at me, she could have done any number of things… but Heather was as cool as a cucumber and helped figure out the situation. I ended up still shooting the wedding obviously and it ended up being one of our best films from that year. What does Calluna mean?

Calluna is the scientific genus name for the plant heather. Heather is commonly found on the moorlands of northern Europe and eastern North America. The highlands of Scotland are synonymous with the beautiful rolling hills of heather. The name Calluna is derived from the Greek word kallunein, which means to cleanse. The name evokes a feeling of simplicity and clean lines. In Scotland, brides carry a sprig of heather in their bouquets. White heather is very rare, brings good fortune and protects against evil. Heather Dwight’s Mom was born and raised in Scotland and all of Heather’s ancestors on her Mom’s side still reside in the British Isles. It is a place she grew up frequently traveling to and is near and dear in her heart.
