It’s another week of #CoffeeWithCalluna and we’re so excited to share a few more tips and tricks. This week, we’re diving into our Summer Destination Series! Over the next couple months, we’ll share our best recommendations for planning the ultimate destination wedding. Each week we’ll answer questions we receive from our readers. Send your questions for this destination series about weddings, planning from afar, style, or anything really and we’ll answer them!

Select Your Location :
The first step to planning your dream destination wedding is to pick your location! Figuring out where your wedding should be is the best place to start. Take some time to sit down with your significant other and discuss the elements you’re envisioning for your special day – including mood, activities for guests, travel time, style and overall vibe. Then, once you have a location in mind, it’s time to begin looking at venues to consider!
Schedule a Visit :
We highly recommend making at least 2-3 trips out to your destination location if you’re able to do so. The first trip should be to visit and consider your ceremony and reception venues. Schedule a day or two to visit these venues with your planner. It’s ideal to be able to be on site to get a true sense of the venue and overall aesthetic.
The second trip, if possible, is to meet with and select your wedding vendors. While you can certainly connect with and select vendors over the phone or via Skype, it’s nice to get a sense of who the vendors are in person and if they will be the right fit for your special day.
And the third trip and most important trip is to do a final site walk through with your planner. You can also use this final trip to see a mockup of your wedding tablescape designed by your florist, rental company and planner, and to confirm that those detailed elements such as flatware, glassware, chargers, etc., look exactly how you’re envisioning!
Send Save-The-Dates :
Once you’ve selected your location and nailed down a wedding date, it’s time to share the news with your friends and family! For destination weddings, it’s especially important to give your guests as much notice as possible so that they can schedule time off work and make travel arrangements early on. Include the wedding date, location and any travel information, such as hotel room block details.
