We are here for the moments. Those moments that you’ll cherish for a lifetime. We want to walk beside you toward those moments and then live them alongside you. It’s why we keep coming back again, and again, and again. This year marked our 14th year business and we are so honored and humbled that our clients and creative partners entrust us each and every year on their weddings and events. Sitting down and reflecting on the incredible moments we’ve witnesses and recounting our highlights is one of our favorite things to do at the end of each year. We are ever grateful for the work we do, the people we have the pleasure of working with and the incredibly talented wedding and event community in Colorado.
To say we are excited for 2018 is an understatement. We are ecstatic! We are so grateful for the couples whose weddings we are currently planning for 2018 and for all the newly engaged couples who have been reaching out! We are continually inspired, challenged, and motivated to do incredible things and be the best we can be!
2017 was a wonderful year for Calluna Events and we are thrilled to share our incredible highlights with you!
Our Work:
- We planned 40 events, including weddings, rehearsal dinners, a Grand Opening Party, graduation party, anniversary party, 40th birthday, non-profit events, several holiday parties, a wine festival, a styled shoot for Rocky Mountain Bride, and more!
- We planned weddings & events all over Colorado, Wyoming including Beaver Creek, Vail, Boulder, Denver, Tabernash, Steamboat, and Lyons, and Saratoga, Wyoming this year.
- We planned the second ever wedding to be held in the Grand Atrium at Union Station in Denver.
- At that wedding our bride and groom had Vanilla Ice perform as a surprise for the guests.
- Due to a family emergency we planned a full service wedding in three short weeks. It was a memorable experience. We are grateful to have had the opportunity to provide for our couple and their families.
- We planned weddings & events at private residences, at 10,000 feet in Colorado, on working farms, mountain ranches, hotel ballrooms, a private ranch in Steamboat, on the top of the mountain in Beaver Creek and Vail, historic homes, an apple orchard, and many other wedding venues!
- We attended two incredible FAM trips this year – one in Aspen Colorado and one in Costa Rica with Auberge Resorts at Hacienda Alta Gracia.
- We planned two gay weddings for our couples Melissa & Marisa and Averill & Jenn. We were so honored to witness their marriages and watching them marry was a highlight of our year! Love wins!
- We worked at Brush Creek Ranch three times this year and are excited to say we’ll be back at Brush Creek and Magee Homestead for weddings in 2018.
- We were asked by Rocky Mountain Bride to design a styled shoot at the Hotel Born in Denver to help market their confereince Rooted in the Rockies!
- We were honored when our owner Heather Dwight was asked by Rocky Mountain Bride to be a speaker at Rooted in the Rockies in April at the Hotel Born.
- We hit 16,200 followers on Instagram!
- Lauren Groeper joined Calluna Events as a Lead Planner this year. After owning her own wedding planning business she decided she wanted to focus on planning and design instead of being a business owner. She brings extensive experience and background to the team and many of our 2018 couples are working with her to plan their weddings.
- Our Lead Planner Gabbie Sarbaugh got married to her hubby Max in beautiful Beaver Creek!
- Our Lead Planner, Michelle Wagner gave birth to a baby girl on New Years Eve! Congratulations Michelle & Adam!
- We had one of our busiest weekends ever with five weddings!
- We completed a redesign of our website! As well as a brand new Media Kit.
- We continued our Coffee with Calluna series on our blog to talk about all things weddings, style, planning or anything you have questions about!
- We started our Cocktails with Calluna blog series where we interview our favorite creative partners and share tips and tricks.
- Kristen Kennedy was promoted to Associate Planner and is currently working with many of our couples to plan their weddings in 2018!
- The rest of our veterans continued as an integral part of our team. Our Lead Planners, Spice and Gabbie have been with us for 12 & 11 years respectively. Spice, Francesca and Gabbie managed weddings in and outside of the state, while Melanie and Michelle are also continue their involvement in assisting and planning. We are so grateful for their loyalty, experience, friendship and continue dedication to the Calluna team!
- Our owner, Heather Dwight continued as the Director of Communication for the WIPA Colorado Chapter. She sat on the board, attending monthly board meetings and national conference calls, four Quarterly meetings and one Members Only Event. WIPA not only is an educational organization but also looks to elevate the integrity and professionalism of the wedding industry.
- Heather attended Engage! Luxury Wedding Industry Conference this December in Nizuc Resort & Spa in Mexico. Attending Engage! Last year in Sea Island was transformational for our business in so many ways and we are so happy to have found the Engage family! #becauseofengage
- Our owner Heather and Calluna Events was profiled and interviewed in The Knot Colorado Spring/Summer 2018 issue on newsstands now.
- We planned the 7th annual Boulder Burgundy Festival and are excited to continue helping in 2018.
- We showcased our third shop-local series featuring all of our favorite local shops and services throughout November, which culminated in our annual Holiday Gift Guide.

- We received the Knot Best of Weddings for the 12th year in a row! We’ve received this honor since 2007, the very first year of The Knot Best of Weddings!
- We are once again a Little Black Book Member of Style Me Pretty.
- We were once again part of the Collective at Grey Likes Weddings
- We were asked once again to be a part of the Once Wed Vendor Guide.
- We were selected to be on the Blue Label list on Ruffled Blog!
- We were asked to be a Rocky Mountain Bride GEM Member.
- We received the Wedding Wire Couple’s Choice Award 2017.
- We’re listed as one of the Best Wedding Planners in Denver by Salonniere.
- We were listed on Expertise at one of the Top 19 Event Planners in Colorado.
- We continued to be listed as a preferred wedding planner at the Brush Creek Ranch, St Julien Hotel & Spa, Devil’s Thumb Ranch, ICONIC Weddings, Beaver Creek Resorts, Vail Resorts, Four Seasons Denver, The Kitchen Restaurants, The Hotel Boulderado, Lyons Farmette, River Bend, YaYa Farm, and more!
- We continued to attend many industry events and networking opportunities such as WIPA Quarterly Events, to broaden our knowledge and meet new vendors.
