It is not every day we have a hand in planning a family reunion and THREE 80th Birthday celebrations (one grandpa + two twin grandmas) all in one Summer weekend. But, lucky for us, this past weekend our planning took us to the absolutely stunning Whistler, BC Canada for this very special celebration.
We wanted to share some family photos, our inspiration, and the finished product event – filled with love, laughs, family, photos, and fabulous farm-to-table Canadian cuisine. Enjoy!
Party prep: We used kraft wrapping paper to cover custom photo books for the birthday folk. Thanks to Boulder’s local Two Hands Paperie for the pretty paper, and Paper Source for the other goods. We also printed some clever quotes to tie at each place setting at the restaurant, around the napkin.
Hello Canada! View from the airplane as we approach Vancouver.
Place settings (the birthday guests of honor received a custom photo book at their place setting):
We collected over 200 images, printed them in “sepia” and hung them around the room – from old, wooden beams, across the fireplace, and on a photo table at the entrance.
Whistler’s Edgewater Lodge created absolutely adorable hors d’oeuvres, including mini crudité in mason jars and smoked salmon cubes. Yum!
We displayed custom, printed napkins with vintage photos of the birthday boy + girls. SO cute!
The lovely Whistler-based Senka Florist worked with local, natural birch skin to wrap around the centerpieces.
The family gathering for the triple birthday cakes (chocolate cake provided by Edgewater Lodge, two vanilla cakes for the twins created by Marketplace IGA):
The unbeatable, breathtaking view from the restaurant deck. Whistler is SO beautiful!
Then, the stunning view as the sun set and moon rose on a picture, perfect night.
Thank you to the Greenbaums, Mintzs, Kaplans, Petersons, and Manns for making this beautiful celebration a reality. We sincerely appreciate being a part of this very special weekend!
