And if overhauling your entire wedding isn’t a priority, here are a few ways we reccomend incorporating more green into your day!
Giving away trees as favors – this is particularly sweet gesture in Colorado where our pine trees have been heavily impacted by the pine bettle
Making wedding sign made from recycled wood
Incorporating beautiful displays with fresh fruit, local cheeses and local flowers
Using produce, cheese, meats and alcohol from local farms and purveyors whenever possible
Working with other vendors who incorporate sustainable practices – from composting, recycling, encouraging their employees to ride their bides or take public transport to work and more
Add to your decor by using family photographs and other objects found in antique and vintage stores and then selling back to those stores.
Using rental items for china and furniture instead of purchasing.
Using simple local flowers in recycled vases or potted plants to give away to guests rather than over-the-top florals
Have simple table decor with orchid plants – guests were encouraged to take the plants as favors
Carry a bouquet of greenery in lieu of flowers
Create signs for your entire wedding instead of printing menus and programs of each guest
