Lida and Jonathan were hands down one of our favorite couples! Not only were they fun, laid back and super easy to work with, they had great style and really wanted to create an incredible wedding weekend that reflected the two of them. Now they have become great friends and I love seeing them and continuing to keep in touch! They were married on August 17, 2008 and are celebrating their one year anniversary today!
When I first met with Lida and Jonathan my immediate thought was, “Wow, these two have a lot of good ideas and they really know what they are looking for.” They were articulate and came to our first meeting with photos printed out from weddings they liked. They even made a list of weddings they liked on the Calluna Events website and noted certain elements that stuck out with them. We like detail oriented couples who like to be involved! Jonathan, seemed very interested in the color and décor. In fact, Jonathan and I worked very closely together on the wedding while Lida was in graduate school and I was amazed at how involved Jonathan wanted to be in picking the colors, designing the décor and helping with the style of the entire event.
At Calluna Events we help our clients with day of coordination, full service planning and everything in between. At my first meeting with Lida & Jonathan it became clear that they wanted help with everything, down to helping plan their Henna Celebration, their evening before BBQ and their wedding. Jonathan’s family is Jewish and he still has family in Israel. Planning a wedding weekend that included elements of his heritage was very important to both Lida and Jonathan. We started off the weekend by holding a traditional Moroccan Henna Celebration at the Lionsgate Center.
Guests were treated to an amazing array of traditional Moroccan Foods prepared by Catering by Design. Some of the foods closely resembled dishes that Jonathan’s family usually prepares at family celebrations. During the Henna, the family & wedding party made their way in a procession carrying platters of sweet cookies and treats, all to symbolize the sweetness of the marriage that was about to take place. We worked with TDA Design in Denver to design the entire décor so that Lionsgate was transformed into a Bedouin Tent set in Morocco Theme. Lida & Jonathan then sat up front in a throne area the guests and were given Henna by the bride & groom.
Guests were treated to a belly dancing performance and then music by Pure Sounds Productions. The next day the bride & groom hosted a casual BBQ in North Boulder Park in Boulder and Catering by Design provided picnic style food and décor.
