We love the local, and we love giving our readers a heads up on the newest local gem that pops up around town. We are so excited for the newest Boulder addition: the Food Lab.
Our dear friend Casey Easton has had her hands in a variety of different cooking related ventures for years. She was a personal chef for 15 years, had a stand at the Farmers’ Market, cooked for private parties, participated in farm to table dinners, and was an avid cooking teacher for the last five years. Like most entrepreneurs, Casey’s dream of running her own business always lingered. In April, this proud entrepreneur will open Boulder’s very own cooking school – with a twist!
The Food Lab is an interactive space for recreational cooking classes, a demonstration kitchen and (our favorite) a unique event venue. Classes are taught from talented teachers and chefs all throughout the Boulder/Denver area covering a variety of topics ranging from Thai, Italian and a night including the very intriguing “pasta wizard”! On top of this, seasonal and speciality classes will be offered, making this space a one stop shop for anything from pickling to knife skills. For those of us who aren’t signing up for next season’s Top Chef, a six-week curriculum is offered for the home chefs that really want to nail down the basics.
We can’t wait to see what events originate out of this space. When we sat down with Casey, she envisioned the space being used for corporate team building, board meetings, girls’ nights, bridal showers, bachelorette parties, rehearsal dinners and a kid friendly haven. We love the idea of a food centric gathering space – an already instinctive habit in the home environment. The modern yet functional feel will be styled by one of our favorite designers, Mike Moore from Tres Birds and we know it will be just beautiful.
It was such a treat sitting down with Casey and learning more about what the Food Lab has to offer. We are inspired by her spirit and dedication of following her dream and we can’t wait to see this amazing business flourish. Whether it be hosting an event, attending a open house or enjoying one of the classes ourselves, you can count us in as eager participants.
The Food Lab will be next door neighbors with our friends at Cured + Boxcar at 1825 Pearl Street. Stay in the loop by checking the website + social media page and officially start the countdown to April!!
