Here at Calluna we are always looking for ways to highlight and honor some of the amazing creative partners we get to work with. We feel incredibly fortunate to work with some seriously talented vendors in the industry, and we want to show them off to you in our new Calluna Community Series! We will sit down with some of the fabulous venues and vendors of Colorado and get to know about them, their business and what life is like behind the scenes. Stay tuned for more!
This week for Calluna Community we caught up with Daylene at Three Peaks Ranch! Three Peaks Ranch is a new venue in Westcliffe, Colorado, and is serious mountain magic!
Cheers! Xo, Calluna
Describe what you do!
Three Peaks Ranch is a Colorado Wedding Venue in a small old western town called Westcliffe. We have an 85 acre horse ranch with sweeping meadows that rise to the base of three fourteen thousand foot peaks. Our buildings are hand designed by local Denver Architect Karen Sund and the Amish community in Westcliffe has hand built them all. Our lodging is included in your venue rental package and can accommodate 6-8 guests overnight. We have state of the art glamping tents, each with their own bathroom and hot water showers, wood stove, deck and fireplace. There is a gathering space with panorama windows onto the mountains and a stunning indoor outdoor dining pavilion with a fireplace. Our goal is to provide a true Colorado experience that you and your guests will never forget.
What is your idea of a dream project?
What is your favorite part of any wedding?
Our favorite part of any wedding is not only celebrating such a special time but seeing all the creativity that each couple brings and how they use and enjoy our space.
What does your morning routine look like?
Mornings at the ranch are very quiet, even mornings before the wedding day. We make sure that all of our spaces are clean and beautiful and ready for you to enjoy, and that the ranch is open for vendors and guests to access. We allow access on your wedding at noon so you can relax and enjoy while you get ready for the big day. Personally, my morning routine involves being woken up too early by my two darling daughters, making them breakfast and trying to enjoy my coffee before another hectic day begins!
What are some of your favorite trends that you are seeing?
We have some very creative couples! One of our favorite new trends is the beer burro, we are so excited to see these cute fuzzy creatures at some of our weddings this summer. Another trend we love is the mobile bars in remodeled horse trailers.
What advice would you give to a younger you?
What do you like to do when you’re away from work?
What is your favorite cocktail, or what are you drinking tonight?
Probably an Old Fashioned or a Margarita but I’m an equal opportunity drinker 😉

This week for Calluna Community we caught up with Melissa at The Broadmoor!
The Broadmoor is a legendary Forbes Five Star and AAA Five-Diamond resort with impeccable service and distinctive amenities with gorgeous mountain views!
Cheers! Xo, Calluna
Describe what you do!
Simply put, I create memories! I help families plan some of the most important days of their lives; Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, Graduation Parties, Weddings, Anniversaries, Retirement Parties, and Celebrations of Life. I help coordinate the venue space, food and beverage, set-up, and help manage the day-of flow.
What is your idea of a dream project?
Oh, so many! I love anything out-of-the-box or trying a new idea or venue. We have a great venue, The Broadmoor’s Fly Fishing Camp and I’ve been dying to do a fun high-end camping trip with fishing lessons, personalized rustic details, and ‘stream-to-table’ themed food & beverage program.
What has been your favorite wedding that you have worked, or attended?
In 2017, I had a great wedding at our Seven Falls – it was the first wedding hosted at the newly opened venue. A gorgeous Colorado setting complete with a chic New York couple, a great vendor team, late-night dancing at the base of a waterfall, a wedding party tequila shot before the ceremony and an amazing family-style menu. It was a challenging event but SO rewarding.
What does your morning routine look like?
On event day, I love to start the morning with a Pure Barre class – taking those 50 minutes for myself really helps me focus the rest of the day on the event and client’s needs. A quick breakfast and I’m out the door. There’s a 99% chance that I’ll stop to get an Iced Dirty Chai from Dutch Brothers on the way into the office (it’s the little things) for an extra kick. And then it’s off to the races!
What are some of your favorite trends that you are seeing?
I love to see how interior design influences events – I will never tire of lounge settings in a reception. Masculine and bold details really help to give the space depth – leather details, matte metals and rich colors really elevate a space. Interactive entertainment add a great element to any event, whether it’s an artist live-painting the ceremony, a cigar-roller at cocktail hour or a chef attended ice cream bar at the reception, I love it all, and so do the guests!
What advice would you give to a younger you?
Take note of everything! Great menu items, window displays at stores, travel articles in airline magazines, there is inspiration EVERYWHERE! Also, drink more water!
What makes you excited to go to work in the morning?
Figuring out the puzzle. Events at a large resort is like solving a puzzle and I love the challenge. I am also so honored and humbled that amazing couples and families trust me with such important moments. That trust gets me up in the morning, for sure!
What is your favorite cocktail, or what are you drinking tonight?
Favorite cocktail is a French 75, hands down; I love gin and champagne so when you combine the two, perfection. But I’ve been drinking sparkling hard seltzer a lot lately – it is so refreshing after a few runs on the slopes or in the stands of a hockey game.

We are sitting down with some of the fabulous vendors of Colorado to get to know about them, their business and what life is like behind the scenes.
This week for Calluna Community, we caught up with Annie and Mark of The St. Vrain!
The St. Vrain is one of Colorado’s newest Urban meets Industrial Event Venues. Between their gorgeous bridal suite, dreamy cocktail hour space, and unique dual purpose ceremony-reception space they are the whole package!
Cheers! Xo, Calluna
Describe what you do!
As owners of The St Vrain, we (me and my hubs, Mark) like to think of ourselves as having the pleasure of helping couples have the day they’ve been dreaming of by providing them with a beautiful blank canvas waiting for their personal touch!
What is your idea of a dream project?
Much of our career as entrepreneurs has been centered around design that enhances life! For more than two decades we designed and manufactured home decor that was sold world wide. So when we began a new chapter and found the amazing building that is now The St Vrain we couldn’t resist bringing one of Colorado’s first auto dealerships, circa 1900, back to life to become a beautiful backdrop for one of life’s biggest and most important celebrations!
What has been your favorite wedding that you have worked, or attended?
Most recently, our daughter and son-in-law’s wedding. Yep, admittedly 100% biased! Our daughter is an artist/designer so you can imagine how fun it was to see her creativity expressed at her own wedding! In addition to all of that goodness, it was such a pleasure to be a client at our own venue and of some of our favorite vendor friends! We loved having the experience we hope every couple has at TSV!
What does your morning routine look like?
Mornings begin generally begin in a sunbeam with coffee beans and a brisk walk with our fur faced child around the park!
What are some of your favorite trends that you are seeing?
I’ll get a little philosophical and say I see HOPE as a trend! When you watch how creatively today’s couples express who they are as a pair, you can’t help but be happy and hopeful! Week after week, we get to witness how families and friends all come together to celebrate two people they love. It really doesn’t get much better than that, does it?
What advice would you give to a younger you?
Oh this could be a long letter! It might begin like this, “Dear Sweet Girl, I know you have big things you want to accomplish and big goals for yourself and all that is well and good. But one day, you will wish you took the time to live in more often in moment with all of its everyday ordinary gifts. So whenever you can, enjoy the wonder in eyes of your kids, listen to the rhythmic steam of the coffee pot, never miss a chance to smile at a stranger and by all means, be kind to your beautiful self! As cliche as it sounds, it really is about the journey.”
What makes you excited to go to work in the morning?
It’s more about the day than a check list…like wondering what shape the day will take, who I will have the pleasure of meeting and what they might have to teach me. It’s probably an age thing. Life is a lot different in my 50s than it was in my 30s!
What is your favorite cocktail, or what are you drinking tonight?
Hands down a NEGRONI! Fell in love several years ago while living in Rome for a short stint with my hubs. Is it wrong to say a cocktail was a life altering experience because we’ve never been the same – ha! Cheers!

This week for Calluna Community, we caught up with Alisha of the St. Julien Hotel & Spa!
Cheers! Xo, Calluna
Describe what you do!
“I am the Social Catering Manager for St Julien Hotel & Spa in Boulder, Colorado. I’ve been with the property for the past six years and work with our wedding couples from start to finish; this includes initial site tours, the contracting process, negotiating room blocks, conducting menu tastings, planning meetings, final walk throughs and of course, being present on the actual day of the wedding! I also book and service social events and non-profit events for St Julien Hotel & Spa.
Located in the heart of downtown Boulder, the property features more than 16,000 sq. ft. of indoor and outdoor event facilities, with arguably the best view of Boulder’s iconic Flatirons. It’s a great destination for the family and friends of our couples, as guests find themselves just steps from both popular dining and shopping at the outdoor, pedestrian-only Pearl St. Mall, and miles of hiking and biking trails at nearby Boulder Creek and beyond.“
What is your idea of a dream project?
“My dream project is working with a couple or client who is striving to make their wedding day or event authentically and uniquely their own. I love seeing the creative process, from menu planning to incorporating personal or cultural influences. It is amazing to get to know a couple throughout the planning process, which allows us to find ways to incorporate their unique ideas, and then to have the privilege to see it all come to fruition on their big day!”
What has been your favorite wedding that you have worked, or attended?
“Well, that’s a tough one, since there are so many! One of my first weddings meant a lot to me, as it was a semi-traditional Indian wedding, and we worked directly with the bride and her mother on re-creating and perfecting their family recipes. The bride presented me with a gorgeous saree to wear for the wedding day and she even let me keep it! Another favorite was a Calluna Wedding; one of the most beautiful outdoor receptions that I have ever seen was followed by a down pour of rain before entrées were served – eek! All the vendors came together as a “power” team to provide a solution for the couple and it made for such a crazy, but fun, night! Not to mention how sweet and grateful the couple was – that always helps!”
What does your morning routine look like?
“I typically spend the morning with a cup of cold brew coffee (yes, even in the winter!) and a walk with my French bulldog, Pono. On wedding or event days, I spend the morning at a yoga class or the farmers market. From there, it’s a gorgeous commute from my home in Longmont to Boulder. I love seeing the Flatirons in the distance, and once I get to the St Julien Hotel…boom! Best view in Boulder!”
What are some of your favorite trends that you are seeing?
“Miniature dessert bars! I like that couples are opting away from the large traditional wedding cakes. We have a fabulous pastry chef at St Julien; her creations are unbelievably beautiful and creative, and the alternative setup gives the guests such a variety of tasty options. They can easily grab their beverage of choice and a mini dessert and get back to the dance floor!”
What advice would you give to a younger you?
“Be ready to always be learning! In this ever-changing industry, there will always be something new to learn. Always be kind and keep an open mind with any guest, client or vendor you might meet along the way—you never know how it might all connect in the future.”
What makes you excited to go to work in the morning?
“My favorite way to start out any wedding work week is with sending a “Happy Wedding Week!” message. I understand that the week is so stressful, as we’re often the couple’s venue, accommodations, caterer and baker, and I hope to alleviate some of the anxiety by communicating with my couples leading up to their big day. The weekend-of is so exciting, seeing the couple be reunited with their family and friends. It’s just a rewarding experience all-around!”
What is your favorite cocktail, or what are you drinking tonight?
“Craft beer! I love a piney, tropical or west coast style IPA. Colorado does not have a shortage of microbreweries, so there is always a new brew to try or brewery patio to visit with my hubby and pup!”
