Maybe an elopement or intimate wedding is something you’ve always dreamed of, or perhaps you have recently had to switch up your plan. Either way, there is something tremendously special about having a small group to witness your love. Intimate celebrations and elopements certainly have their advantages and allow for more personalized moments. We want to offer you our tips and tricks on planning a small wedding celebration.
XO,
The Calluna Crew
The Details:
Just because you are eloping or only celebrating with a few people doesn’t mean the details don’t matter. We love helping with intimate weddings and creating a beautiful and customized experience. Flowers, delicious food and wine, entertainment, wedding cake and a wedding planner can still be a part of your big day. At one intimate wedding celebration in Beaver Creek, we brought in specialty table decor from Yonder House and hired a private chef to create a gorgeous table setting and meal with wine pairings for the guests.
Photography + Videography:
Whether it’s just you and your partner, or a small number of guests, you’ll want to capture the day with a great photographer. Many photography and videography vendors specialize in small and intimate weddings, so you’re in luck! Typically more intimate weddings allow for more wiggle room in the budget, so let us help you find the perfect wedding photographer and videographer. You’ll want to look back on the memories and be able to share them with friends and family who were not at your elopement.
Do What Feels Right:
It is important to remember that big weddings and small weddings have the same goal: to celebrate the love of you and your partner. When planning your wedding, make sure that every decision reflects your and your soon to be spouse, it is still essential to create a list of wedding priorities with your partner.
The Destination:
Sure, options may be different right now, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have your dream celebration. When the weddings get smaller, the options get bigger! Check out this great article from Venue Report for some elopement inspiration 32 Jaw Dropping Spots That Will Make You Want To Elope.
Involve Others:
Even if they aren’t physically at the wedding, you can still involve friends and family in your special day. Let your family or friends host other celebrations like an engagement party or a bridal shower, and don’t forget about the bachelor/bachelorette party!

Today we have Jaime + Par’s intimate Colorado mountain elopement on the blog + portfolio! This stunning couple came to us with a plan to have a full on wedding, but as time went on this couple decided that the allure of a big wedding just was not what they had envisioned. Instead they wanted to tie the knot with just the two of them and to have Jaime’s aunt there to wed them! With the rich hues of Jaime’s bouquet and set in the Colorado mountains on a cloudy summer day, we can’t think of a more romantic way to say “i do.” The oh so talented Ashley Sawtelle was there to capture this picture perfect elopement!
If you simply have not had enough of this gorgeous couple, be sure to check out their portfolio as well as their feature on Trendy Bride Magazine!

This past Sunday we had the pleasure of planning a very last minute (were talking less than 3 weeks) elopement on top of the Lost Gulch Overlook in Boulder (just up Flagstaff Road).
Jim + Heidi contacted us about 2.5 weeks ago to plan an elopement ceremony for them. While there were no other guests present, the couple wanted things to remain formal and planned. So, we enlisted the help of a few of our lovely local professionals and with a few phone calls and follow up, we had planned our couple a wedding.
The weather was wonderful, the location was breathtaking, the ceremony was sweet and traditional, the flowers beautiful, and the photos are stunning.
Thank you SO much to Alison Vagnini Photography, Brighter Day Floral Design, and Father Marty for making this special celebration so memorable!
