We were thrilled to be back at Brush Creek Ranch for another wonderful wedding for O + R. It was four full days of welcome parties, square dancing, welcome dinner and a beautiful wedding ceremony and reception at the brand new Farm at Brush Creek Ranch! Their wedding ceremony will be the first held at The Farm! We are always grateful to be back at Brush Creek Ranch! We were so pleased to work with O + R on their destination wedding at Brush Creek. Planning with them was a highlight. Rustic, romantic and autumn textures were the the vibes and we loved every moment of it. We couldn’t get over the beauty of the transformed space. On the day of the wedding the love and joy between these two and between their friends and family all weekend has been inspiring! We were absolutely honored to be with O + R. We wish you both much more love, joy, happiness and years and years of marriage!
Fall florals are absolutely some of our favorite! We simply adore all of the vibrant colors and unique flower combinations fall brings. We are lucky enough to have some absolutely amazing florists here in Colorado, so we asked them our burning questions about fall floral trends. Not only did they provide us with some amazing answers, but also some gorgeous photos that we are swooning over.
Instead of heavily relying on the traditional fall colors, using fall foliage, textures, lush blooms and berries you are able to achieve a gorgeous non-traditional palette that is not overdone. We love working ahead of the trends, as customers expect to see the usual reds and oranges and using stems that are out of the box- traditionally, you wouldn’t expect to see creams and blush, but paired with hints of yellow throated orchids and burgundy jewel tones you are able to achieve a timeless palette.
Recently there has been a push towards incorporating vibrant color in florals in a manner that feels autumnal but not kitschy orange and yellow. I love the rich saturation of plum and burgundy mixed with softer blushes and toned rust accents. Using a variety of flowers in this color palette creates a look that is elegant and beautiful but still in sync with the season. Fall is such a beautiful and colorful time of year, so I definitely encourage brides to embrace color in their floral styling that harmonizes with the natural environment.
I have a love affair with dinner plate dahlias, cafe au lait’s to be more specific. These shown in the picture are grown on the western slope by local farmers. The variety in the cafe au lait is always stunning and makes for an unexpected bloom that compliments so many color palettes.
Prema:
It’s always so hard to pick a favorite flower because I love so many! But, the ranunculus start getting super pretty this time of year with such a range of colors to choose from. I adore the dark purple and peach ones. I also love working with crimson dahlias in fall because they are so rich and velvety.
Fiori Flowers:
This is a difficult question because I love so many! But if I have to choose, I would say the Dahlia. It’s so rich and soft and warm yet unique.
What is the underrated fall flower & how do you like to see that flower incorporated?
The Perfect Petal:
Euonymus is one of all time favorite berries that blooms on the most beautiful fall foliage. It can be used for anything from fall centerpieces, boutonnières, bridal bouquets to simply a vase full of it in your home. It’s a “hidden secret” that I always look forward to designing with each fall season. (It’s the hot pink berry shown up top….)
Prema:
Chrysanthemums. There are some really beautiful large rust colored and muted peach football mums and cremone chrysanthemums this time of year. They are wonderfully old-fashioned and their size makes them a perfect statement flower in a large floral design.
Fiori Flowers:
Flowering kale! Fall is it’s peak season and it shows up in so many different tones and shapes and looks so feminine and floral yet edgy.
Plum Sage Flowers:
We have two.. one are amaryllis, which are featured in our arrangement above. They are traditionally introduced in December but they are a gorgeous fall bloom. Also, we love to utilize sunflowers but without the gold petals. When the petals are removed they are a textured, dark accent flower with small green leaf edges, which provide a very pretty contrast.
The centerpiece pictured above to the left includes amaryllis, dahlias, ranunculus, roses, hops, seasonal grasses, crabapple, viburum, echinacea pods and foliage and is approximately $225. We can certainly create a smaller version on request.
