An Edgy Meets Glam Sultry Styled Photoshoot

We are beyond excited to have this sultry styled shoot featured on Ruffled blog today!

Energized by the changing seasons and the colder temperatures, we at Calluna Events set out with a mission to curate a shoot that catered to both the winter bride and holiday party enthusiast. Armed with the color palette of black, gold, and bright hues of red, we were completely inspired and ran with an edgy roaring 20s vibe that was dripping in glitz and glam!

We paired up with Denver’s talented vendors – each bringing their own personal flair and interpretation to our speakeasy theme and together a sultry, rich, and totally gorgeous shoot came together.

Epernay Lounge in downtown Denver served double duty not only as our one of a kind sultry venue, but assisted in the ideation of our spooky speakeasy, contributing everything from the dripping tapered candles to the gold gilded pumpkins.

Merci Bouquet showed up with extravagant blooms in hand, exploding with texture and color. The unexpected combo of fruits + florals to garnish the table scape effortlessly complimented our distinct color palette, bringing poise and synergy to the entire shoot. Dark boutonnieres flattered the eye-catching textured bouquets, and an abundant array of candles topped off the vibrant black sequined La Tavola linen. Gold flatware, chargers and a matte black napkins were the finishing touches. Each detail was carefully crafted to dramatize our gorgeous venue and complete the already sexy, intimate vibe. It was nearly impossible to tear your eyes away from the giltz of it all.

Our couple sat like royalty in Charming Chairs’ King chairs – their newest edition and a never been photographed speciality. With such a commanding presence, we paired these one of a kind  love seats alongside the clean white Louise chair to create a juxtaposition of our darker colors.

Lolli and Pops took us back the Roaring 20s with indulgent sweets and candies – Charleston Chew’s, cream sodas and gold and silver rock candy that looked almost too good to eat. Sugarmill brought our delicious macaroons, decorated with flecks of gold and delicate black detail. Each sweet treat seamlessly fell into the mix.

A & Be bridal shop generously presented two never been photographed dresses for the shoot. The Catherine Dean “Tallulah” dress and the Rue de Seine “Leif” dress from the 2016 “Nomadic Love” Collection were featured and individually lent a hand in completing the look we were striving to accomplish. The simplicity and elegance of each dress were breathtaking and stole the show. We loved the intricate beading detail on both dresses, emulating the Great Gatsby glamour with a modern edgy spin… swoon. Our grooms were clothed in beautiful custom Bespoke Edge suits – clean, polished, and perfectly suave.

Bubbles were popped over a dramatic champagne tower, compliments of Moet & Chandon Champagne. The intricate tower was hand-crafted on top of a glamorous gold sequin linen provided by Event Rents. As a special surprise, dry ice circled the centerpiece to create just enough spook for this Halloween centric shoot.

Last but certainly not least, Emily Sacco from Emily Sacco Photography photographed the entire shoot. The angles she captured, the colors she accentuated, and the overall feeling she curated through her photos was absolutely jaw dropping. We are overjoyed with the final product!

Mediterranean Inspired Styled Shoot

We are ecstatic that our Mediterranean Inspired styled shoot was featured today on Style Me Pretty’s homepage! It is truly an honor!

Wedding styled shoots with our fellow vendors that we love oh-so-much are at the pinnacle of what we are passionate about and what makes us excited each and every day! It is the perfect way for each one of us to express a new creative avenue that we have wanted to try out. It is also a way for us to get inspired by the creative people that surround us in this amazing world of weddings!

When Ashley from Ashley Sawtelle Photography, one of our office mates, approached us at the end of last summer about a styled shoot she had in her mind we knew instantly we wanted to collaborate with her. But we wanted to do it right! After a busy wedding season and end of the year we finally made the shoot happen in January of this year and it was one of those shoots where you are pinching yourself from the moment you arrive at all the beauty and talent surrounding you!

For this shoot we wanted to create a scene that was inspired by the Mediterranean coast. The color palette consisting of those gorgeous deep blues and teals, accented with the vibrant citrus colors and stunning floral hues.

Our table scape struck the perfect look of timelessness yet modern. With the stunning white backdrop of EXDO event center and the natural wood table, tied in with the tall gold tapered candles, eclectic dinnerware pieces and tile place cards. The hint of gold throughout was a nice neutral to keep our color palate grounded.

Throughout the entire shoot we felt inspired by each of the vendors that contributed. Each one brought a unique piece to the table and left us in awe. Twinkle & Toast provided the tile place cards, escort cards, sign and invitation suite and designed a custom pattern throughout each piece. Sugar Breck used real ribbon from Silk & Willow on the base of the cake. And hand painted tile cookies, adding a sweet touch to the theme.

Bare Root Flora provided the breathtaking bouquet, which was bound by the striking ribbon from Silk & Willow. They also provided the stunning centerpiece, which pulled in our vibrant colors perfectly and was finished off with some mouth watering citrus around the base.

Eclectic Hive provided an Indian wedding wood table and aged, mismatched wood chairs. They also provided the sheepskin rug, which balanced out the raw concrete floor and white brick background.

Alchemy Mineral Blends used light, spring colors from their new collection to show a fresh and dewy complexion for our bride against her dark, Mediterranean features. Angie Star Jewelry provided a simple gold and diamond wedding band; as well as diamond and gold studs.

We chose an elegant, yet simple two piece wedding dress from Rebecca Schoneveld and veil by Sara Gabriel, both found at a & bé Bridal in Denver, CO. We loved the subtle blue in the bodice of the dress, which tied in the blue from the rest of the shoot.

The West Elm in Denver provided the eclectic gold flatware, Peppercorn located in Boulder provided the striking blue napkins that really helped tie in the rich bright blue of the tile place cards, and the rest of the table décor came from Anthropologie.

And certainly but not least, Ashley Sawtelle from Ashley Sawtelle Photography captured the entire shoot perfectly. Her attention to detail and expertise behind the camera really shone through throughout the entire shoot. The photos are a testament to how talented Ashley truly is.

We can’t thank all our vendors enough for all the hard work they put in to pull this entire shoot together! We can’t wait for the next styled shoot! xx Calluna

Sneak Peek: Calluna Events + Todd Reed Proposal Styled Shoot

Anyone will tell you, collaborations are the absolute best. That is precisely why we get so excited to pair up with old and new industry vendors, friends and colleagues and create something really stunning. A few weeks ago, with several creative minds at work, this unbelievable styled shoot came to fruition. This is the first of a few projects we have in the works with Todd Reed and something we’ve been conceptualizing for some time now.

We wanted to create something edgy, sexy, on-trend and high fashion and … while being completely elegant in its own light. We strive for all our collaborations to be outside the box, a never-been-seen-before feel. Our fabulous models filled the room with chemistry, wearing Todd Reed jewels while being photographed by the brilliant James Christianson. Prema Style brought the florals and assisting us with styling of found objects throughout the Todd Reed studio.  Mile Hile Style, styled our models with local Boulder favorites,  Willow and Weekends. The Face Lab provided hair and makeup, for both and of course made them look stunning.  These are just our iPhone photos – can you even imagine how powerful the professional prints will be? Stay tuned. Thank you, friends.

Preppy Styled Shoot with Rocky Mountain Bride

A few weeks ago, we teamed up with Rocky Mountain Bride and an insanely talented group of creative vendors to do a styled shoot. Driven by the inspiration of ‘preppy with a modern twist’, each vendor took their interpretation of the theme and channeled it to create a stunning end result.

With the gorgeous flatirons serving as a backdrop to the already luxurious St Julien Hotel, our lovely duo channeled romance, beauty and won the best dressed award – at least in our eyes. Paired alongside bright flowers that emulated a fresh spring vibe, we are still head over heels for the all around style of the day.

Below is a little preview but make sure to swipe a copy of the real deal when this shoot hits the stands in April. Thank you to everyone who was involved – we had a blast!
