Camp Hale is one of the venue’s in Colorado that is really special. Situated between Leadville and Vail – the remote nature really gives your guests the most stunning views and overall experience and that’s exactly what Emily & Steve wanted to give their families – many of whom were traveling to Colorado from Kansas and Missouri.
We kicked off the weekend with an intimate rehearsal dinner at The Hythe hotel in Vail followed by a big welcome party at Arrabelle Vail! It was the perfect way to welcome all their guests to Vail for the weekend.
When we started designing their wedding, we knew we wanted to keep a lot of the tones and colors earthy but with a summer twist. The color palette of rust tones mixed in with some lighter colors played perfect to the vast landscape of Camp Hale and the beautiful summer season. It all came together beautifully!
At cocktail hour – guests were treated to spicy margaritas and comfy lounge groupings while these “party people” found their seats at a custom designed escort display. Before heading into the tent – Wandering Poppy Co. blew us away with a lush, organic entrance install. Once inside, guests the boho inspired florals were on full display with an amazing dance floor installation that was paired with pops of color in the glassware and napkins to transform the tent.
After dinner, guests took the dance floor to dance all night to the sounds of Manhattan Band before sending the couple off with a sparkler exit!

What do you get when you get two high school sweethearts, families who are best friends, friends who have walked through all chapters of life together – one of the most fun, loving and heartfelt wedding celebrations that we’ve had the pleasure of being a part of.
When Jessica + Alex first came to us at Calluna they had a vision of a chic, classic and traditional Colorado wedding nestled in the mountain of Boulder, right up the hill from where Alex popped the question!
Greystone Castle served as the perfect backdrop for their August I Do’s! With a perfectly pitched Sperry Tent on the front lawn and the sprawling mountain views from the ceremony site, Jessica & Alex welcome friends and family from across the world (some as far as Dubai and Lebanon).
The floral team at The Perfect Petal accent the tent and the farm tables with shades of white, green, and blush accent by classic gold and glass elements to make for a stunning tablescape. Once the summer Colorado rain stopped, a stunning rainbow appeared as guests noshed on appetizers and drank two classic signature cocktails – appropriately named “The Big” and “The Carrie” as a nod to the couple’s home in New York City.
When it was time for the couple’s grand entrance – they were led into the tent by a Lebanese Zaffa Fusion band, a nod to the bride’s heritage and we have never seen anything like it. The guests surrounded the couple and the band on the dance floor and we felt so lucky to witness such an incredible cultural tradition. After guests finally made their way to their seats – the culinary team at Greystone Castle, led by Jacqueline Malcom-Peck served guests a 5-star dinner under the stars!
After an evening followed by heartfelt (and hilarious!) toasts, sentimental dances it was time to kick off the dance-party with our friends from The Get Down! The dance floor was packed all night! To end the evening, at the bride’s request, Shake Shack delivered late night burgers and fries!
We wish Jessica & Alex so many years of happiness!

This week we’re focusing our venue love on the mountains! With views of endless mountain ranges, sweeping valleys, and rivers and lakes, it’s no wonder Colorado is quickly becoming a destination couples flock to! We’ve been so fortunate to plan some amazing weddings and events at these venues and can’t wait for more to come at these breathtaking destinations.
Many of our clients find that the mountains are the perfect destination and love bringing their guests to the beauty of the Rockies for their wedding weekend. We couldn’t agree more! While it feels impossible to narrow down our favorite destinations – please enjoy some of our favorites below!
Sonnenalp (Vail, CO)
Why We Love The Sonnenalp: The Sonnenalp is timelessly Vail! This luxury alpine hotel offers a beautiful partly glassed in dining room, that brings in beautiful light for a reception. Picture a ceremony right in front of Gore Creek, followed by dinner and dancing under the stars. It’s the perfect mix of alpine-modern! Ludwig’s glass enclosed terrace is a dream too and is where Meghan and Chris’ absolutely gorgeous reception took place. We are always so excited to be back at the Sonnenalp!

The 10th (Vail, CO)
Why We Love The 10th: This one of a kind venue is an iconic Vail wedding site. With high-quality service and views that *literally* take our breath away, this special destination is so close to our hearts. The restaurant looks over the Gore Range at Vail mid-mountain providing the most epic dance party backdrop you can imagine.

Four Seasons Vail (Vail, CO)
Why We Love the Four Seasons Vail: Nestled in the heart of downtown Vail, you can still come home to the familiar and exceptional caliber of Four Seasons. Call this beautiful hotel a home base for your guests or enjoy one of the many versatile spaces for your weekend celebrations (including their newly renovated ballroom – hello!!). Last year we had the joy of planning Russ + Paula’s wedding reception at Four Seasons Vail with a ten piece orchestra you don’t want to miss out on!

Larkspur (Vail, CO)
Why We Love Larkspur: “Our award-winning restaurant is situated in Vail at the base of Golden Peak and the views don’t get much better. In the winter and early spring, the snowy slopes of Vail Mountain are literally steps away from our patio. From late spring through fall, Larkspur’s lush, green event lawn is surrounded by Aspen groves and stunning views of the majestic Gore Range.” They have both indoor, outdoor patio, and outdoor lawn options, so it is perfect for a reception, ceremony, or both! We loved planning Zoe + Pete’s and so many other weddings here!

Vail Wedding Deck + Arrabelle Square (Vail, CO)
Why We Love the Vail Wedding Deck and Arrabelle Square: We were over the moon planning Brooke + Christian’s romantic mountain wedding here (look at those views!), and love that the Wedding Deck has 360 degree views of the Vail Valley (!!!). Travel by gondola for the valley’s quintessentially mountain backdrop to say “I Do” for your ceremony and then head back down the mountain to Arrabelle Square. We love opting for the tent so you can dance the night away under the twinkle lights in the middle of the town square – central yet intimate.

Camp Hale (Vail, CO)
Why We Love Camp Hale: Camp Hale is every bit of mountain magic – complete with a waterfront ceremony and a backdrop of 12,000 foot mountain peaks. It’s nestled in aspen and pine trees, and located just up the hill from Vail (about 30 minutes by car). We were so happy we could got to celebrate Abby + Kevin’s big day at this stunning spot. We can’t wait to be back later this summer!

Why We Love The Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch: The Ritz Carlton offers a wide range of venues that can cater to each couple! Why We Love Saddleridge: While offering all of the beautiful scenery of Beaver Creek, Saddleridge also offers that authentic Colorado experience, with their vaulted ceilings, western artifacts and mountain views that go on and on! Rich with historical knick knacks, this venue is not your classic ballroom – and we love that. Don’t sleep on Saddleridge!

Why We Love The Park Hyatt Beaver Creek: A new-to-us venue for the 2021 season, we’ve been quick to fall in love with this hotel at the base of the mountain. We love the versatility of the event spaces (Crooked Hearth for a more intimate feel or rehearsal dinner!) and their ceremony views are something to write home about – whatever the season. We had so much fun planning Jenny + Mason’s wedding here last year, where they skied into their ceremony! It was epic!

The Little Nell (Aspen, CO)
Why We Love The Little Nell: The Little Nell is the epitome of luxury and getting married here would be an unforgettable experience. Looking for epic views? Check. World class service? Check. A phenomenal party like no other? Check, check check. “The experience waiting for you as you step off Aspen’s Silver Queen Gondola may be reason enough to exchange vows. Floating three miles above the town of Aspen but just steps from The Little Nell, our Wedding Deck is a venue unlike anything else in Colorado. At an elevation of 11,212 feet, with sweeping views of the Elk Mountain Range, it doesn’t get much more romantic.” We loved this top of mountain moment last year at Shelby + Ben’s wedding!

A St. Regis wedding means luxury, comfort and unforgettable memories. Just steps away from the slopes and the amazing bars and restaurants of Aspen, the location of the St. Regis could not be more ideal. Page + Scott’s big day was on for the storybooks and we couldn’t imagine a better destination to celebrate them.

We couldn’t be more excited to introduce everyone to our hard-working interns! Gina & Megan started with us in February, and we can’t thank them enough for the behind-the-scenes work they put in assisting with wedding planning, marketing, and more!
I’m a Colorado native, but started event planning in New York City working as an intern at a company specializing in South Asian weddings. It was such a unique and fun experience that it only bolstered my love of weddings. I have a background in design, and love creating, drawing a lot of inspiration from the outdoors. When I’m not working, I like to spend time in the mountains – whether it be snowboarding, hiking, or fly fishing!
What is your favorite reception song?
90’s – 00’s Hip-Hop or R&B – the nostalgia is real!
Give me all the flowers! It’s so hard to choose just one, so if I had to pick my favorites, they would be tulips, ranunculuses, and garden roses.
Favorite dress designer?
I really like Vera Wang, Monique Lhullier, and more recently Samuelle Couture.
Favorite wedding movie?
The Wedding Planner was the first movie that made me fall in love with the planning process, but I’ve seen The Proposal too many times to count so it would probably be that one!
I’m graduating from Colorado State University in May with my degree in Hospitality Management. I was born and raised in Colorado with a big country girl heart, but a city girl attitude. My love for weddings probably started when I was a kid, watching any and all movies with a romantic love story, and then only grew when Say Yes To the Dress was the only show I watched!
What is your favorite reception song?
If I’m going to dance to anything at a wedding, you can bet it’s Shania Twain!
I love peonies and ranunculuses! But everyone who knows me, knows I’m a sucker for all things floral.
Favorite dress designer?
Hands down Hayley Paige! I love her unique designs and that she designs the most beautiful gowns.
Favorite wedding movie?
Father of the Bride 1&2! I’ve seen the movie more times than acceptable and still love them both!
Today we’d love for you to get to know Francesca! Francesca DeOrio is a native New Yorker who has worked in the hospitality industry for over a decade. Her background in hospitality management, restaurant operations and events coordination has honed her ability to multi-task her way through just about any project. Francesca and Calluna owner, Heather Dwight, first worked together when they collaborated on an event at The Kitchen Next Door. At the time, Francesca was the general manager and events planner. It was immediately evident that events managed by Francesca balanced good humor and positive thinking with innate problem-solving skills and a thorough eye for detail. Her extensive experience at The Kitchen restaurant group combined with her passionate enthusiasm for event and wedding planning makes Francesca a perfect addition to the Calluna Events team.

What do you do to relax after a wedding is over?
Glass of wine and an Epson Salt Bath 😉
What is your favorite part of the planning process?
Floral Mock Up/Consult — its always when the vision truly comes alive!
What is your favorite reception song?
Can’t Stop The Feeling by Justin Timberlake
Ouuu … peonies and dahlia
One trend you are over seeing?
Rustic Chic …..
