We talked to the Spruce Mountain Guest Ranch about their new business and weddings!
1. Name of business: Spruce Mountain Guest Ranch
2. Years in business: 6 months – Grand Opening, October 1, 2009
3. Location: Larkspur, CO
4. Most memorable wedding… My own wedding. When I got married Spruce Mountain was not an official wedding venue. It was a 400 acre piece of land that my parents in retirement bought to build a recreational playground for their children and Grandchildren to enjoy. The memories of my parents dreaming and building their new home was so special and so much fun. They took the land as their canvas and created the most beautiful estate. When my husband proposed I knew immediately that I wanted to be married at Spruce Mountain. I could not think of a more meaningful venue. My husband and I eloped. We were married in front of the fireplace in Ruby’s Cottage (the original barn built in the late 1800s that my parents renovated into a guest home. We named it Ruby’s Cottage after my Grandmother.) The only people at my wedding were my pastor, photographer, videographer, and my 2 sons who were 4 and 6 years old. We were all crying. It was the most special, most romantic wedding I had ever been to. It was an 80 degree October day. The trees were changing colors. Bright reds and oranges. We couldn’t stop taking pictures, laughing, and holding one another. By far my favorite wedding at Spruce Mountain.
5. I love it when a Bride and Groom are…both involved in the planning of their wedding. They are working together to create a day that is representative of each other, and respectful of what each other wants.
6. Favorite part of a wedding…When the groom sees his bride for the first time as she is walking down the aisle.
7. Our favorite kind of bride is…one who makes herself at home at Spruce Mountain. We tell all of our clients that when they walk through our gates they become a part of our family. We love watching our guests enjoy the property and take advantage of all the amenities that are available to them.
8. What sets us apart from other venues is… We a more than just a room. We are a private, 400 acre mountain estate tucked just outside of the city. We are only a 20 minute drive South of the Denver Tech Center. Our guests can enjoy a mountain wedding without having to travel to the mountains. We only have one event per day. We believe it is important for our brides to have flexibility when planning their wedding. We are open to outside vendors, and have indoor and outdoor spaces accommodating 40-400 guests. Our amenities far exceed other venues.
9. Trends we are seeing for 2010… With this being our first year in business I do not have the background knowledge to recognize new trends, however I do find it interesting that I have yet to see a “traditional” wedding. I love how brides are stepping out of the box and creating weddings that fit their individual styles. 10. One tip for finding a venue on a budget is… Cut back on the number of guests you invite. Choose an off season date or day. If you chose a venue such as Spruce Mountain you will save money on décor as Spruce Mountain is already so naturally beautiful . Also, look for a venue such as Spruce Mountain that allows you to bring in your own alcohol. Click here to find more about Spruce Mountain!

Fantastic venue… we were in a jam last week when our wedding venue made changes to our wedding site that were unreasonable. We contacted Spruce Mountain Ranch – and we’re getting married there in less than a month!
