What is your idea of a dream project?
I love working with clients on a close and personal basis. It is gratifying when they place their trust in me to create the best stationery suite for them. While most of my clients carry busy lives, it’s my job to ask the right questions, to get to the root of their vision. I’ll ask for adjectives to help describe both the couple and their wedding day. It helps me step into the their world and visualize how we can put that on paper. From there, I run with the vision and get creative. I often get the comment that I make the process so easy and fun for my clients.
While I don’t often attend my client’s weddings, I always feel like I have experienced their wedding day just by the journey of creating their wedding stationery. The results are always one-of-a-kind. That is why I love what I do!
What has been your favorite wedding that you have worked, or attended?
I truly feel that each client is so different and unique, that I have honestly enjoyed working with all my clients. Upon reflection, my favorite weddings are when the client truly appreciates and is inspired by paper (or other materials) and the wonders we can create with it. Just recently, I finished a wedding for a couple getting married in Florence, Italy. I painted and drew several illustrations: cityscape of Florence, cypress trees, olive branches, the villa for their wedding, and several other venues unique to their event. They wanted their guests to feel special and attended to, so we created a stationery suite that provided all of their planning details in an organized, yet elegant fashion. We worked with them on selecting the right colors and textures, and even ribbons, to create a luxurious yet inviting suite. Their overall branding was carried through to the day-of details. From the menus, to the place cards, the welcome packets. No stone was left unturned without proper care and thought. I just received an email from the bride who captured it better than I could “They are works of art that we plan to frame!”
