With spring in the air and summer just around the corner, we’re anxious to get outside and start entertaining. Whether it be a birthday bash or backyard BBQ, summer parties always seem to be better in the beautiful outdoors. Houzz.com inspires some handy tips and tricks for the hardworking host to make sure all goes well. Our favorite four are below:
- Weather: As Colorado natives, we’ve learned our lesson time and time again that weather can change at the drop of a hat (snow in May?!). Ensure your party guests will stay dry and happy by having a weather back up plan. This could mean an indoor/outdoor party (open up your living room for more space to mingle) or a sheltered area to hide from the spring showers. Anything from a makeshift tent to backyard gazebo will do the trick. At the very least, have some fun umbrellas for temporary refuge from the rain.
- Lighting: We love how transformative lighting techniques can be and make a space truly unique. Take advantage of this even outside! Lanterns, heart lamps, string lights, a fire pit… This design element is essential + effortlessly elegant (and very functional when the sun goes down!)
- Kid friendly: It’s not truly summer time unless there are few little ones running around while the rest of us sit at the adult table, jealous of their fun crafts. Set up an area for chalking, a costume box or bubble station to keep the smiles and laughter at an all time high.
- Most importantly, take advantage of bright colors!! Spring + summer seasons are filled with bright blooms, blue skies, green grass, patterned dresses and colorful accents. Now is the time to capture those feelings of warmth and happiness in every aspect of your party, down to the color of your polish.
