Here at Calluna we are always looking for new ways to highlight and honor some of the amazing creative partners we get to work with. We feel incredibly fortunate to work with some seriously talented vendors in the industry, and we want to show them off to you in our new Calluna Community Series! We will sit down with some of the fabulous vendors of Colorado and get to know about them, their business and what life is like behind the scenes. Stay tuned for more!
This week for Calluna Community we caught up with Rachel Havel of Rachel Havel Photography! We have the pleasure of working with Rachel this weekend on a very special wedding in Vail and we cannot wait!

- Describe what you do?
“By title, I’m a wedding photographer. In reality, I get to be invited by complete strangers to be a part of one of the most memorable moments of their lives. I arrive as a friend and am enthused to document their weddings in a way that leaves them with a visual legacy that is not only beautiful, but is also heartfelt and authentic to who they are.”
- What is your idea of a dream project?
“Put me in an awe inspiring location with stunning florals, heartfelt people, and an adoring couple who can’t imagine a life without the other person in it. I couldn’t ask for more.
- What has been your favorite wedding that you have worked, or attended?
“I have a few favorite weddings that I’ve been a part of that stand out in my mind. I would say they are the ones that are off the beaten path and require a bit of adventure. They are the one’s that the couple poured their personality and style into, yet in the end, what mattered the most to them, was the love they shared as they joined their lives together.
- What does your morning routine look like?
“The most I can guarantee here is that I am for sure drinking a cup of coffee (or two) and eating some eggs for breakfast. After that, I’m punching my to-do list in the face, and trying to find a sweet spot to put in a workout.”
- What are some of your favorite trends that you are seeing?
“My favorite trends are not exactly specific details. It’s more about the heart behind it all. I am loving seeing couples that are making their wedding personal to them, focusing on the guest experience, and curating their wedding with a great deal of intentionality.”
- What advice would you give to a younger you?
“The greatest thing you could do is seek to live a life of love and gratitude.”
- What makes you excited to go to work in the morning?
“The real challenge is honestly getting me to put my work down. I absolutely love what I do, and I pour my heart and soul into my business. It’s easy for me to work because it is a natural extension of my heart.”
- What is your favorite cocktail, or what are you drinking tonight?
“I’ll take a margarita any day of the week, but my go to goodness is a chilled glass of chardonnay!”
