We're calluna
We’re so excited to share that one of our favorite weddings has been featured today on Rocky Mountain Bride and we’re thrilled to FINALLY share it here on the blog! Where do we even begin with Mary Ellen + Reed. We adored this couple from the very beginning and loved planning with them, and Mary Ellen’s Mom Janet for a year and a half. From the beginning of the planning process, we remember talking with the MOB Janet as well as Mary Ellen and knowing that Mary Ellen’s vision was something we were excited to be a part of. They had booked The Broadmoor and Mary Ellen was very clear that she wanted the wedding to feel personal and reflect the two of them.
Even though the ceremony was indoors at the Pauline Chapel, it was important for many elements to be outdoors so that their two dogs could participate, and also their guests could experience the natural Colorado backdrop. Mary Ellen was also clear that she wanted the florals and decor to be infused with an English Garden and Parisian feel, two places near and dear to her heart. They also wanted to infuse elements of their travels and their hometowns in Texas – a nod to their favorite dive bar was incorporated.
The weekend started with bowling at The Broadmoor own bowling alley, complete with beers and custom doozies. The bride and groom wore custom, bowling shirts and set the tone for a fun, personalized wedding weekend! The next evening the held a rehearsal dinner for just family followed by a lively, welcome reception lakeside at the Broadmoor. Ike + Martin, a fantastic duo accompanied the party! The wedding day was a glorious fall day with sunshine and beautiful Colorado skies.
Mary Ellen and Reed were married in the Pauline Chapel on the grounds of the Broadmoor, the ceremony was performed by Reed’s uncle. The chapel featured a gorgeous arch of stunning florals from The Perfect Petal. Guests then strolled across to the West Tower Lawn where they were greeted with champagne and furniture vignettes and gorgeous flowers in jewel tones, set in a Parisian feel. The cocktail hour was outdoors, Lakeside, so that the couples’ two dogs could participate!
Guests were then transported to the Cheyenne Lodge, where we had completely transformed the space alongside our design + decor partner, Eclectic Hive. Gorgeous green draping adorned the walls, making the space feel completely different. The florals, decor, tabletop were colorful and a romantic scene with hundreds of candles, custom monogramed + velvet napkins, modern glassware, and personal paper details from Melanie Tatum Events.
It was a design collaboration for the books and one we will not forget! The Broadmoor served up a delicious meal, featuring stations, which were followed by some heartwarming toasts.  The Manhattan Band from Jordan Kahn Orchestra kept the dance floor packed. Mary Ellen and Reed’s day will forever be a favorite – we love you both!
