Now that all the big wedding details are taken care of, it’s time to start planning your dream honeymoon! As you start doing research, you find that there’s so much information on the Internet, you don’t know which reviews you can trust, and you’re having trouble picking a destination (the world is at your fingertips, afterall!). You might find that planning your honeymoon is starting to become more stressful than fun…

That’s where Katie Frederick Jacobson of Ever After Honeymoons comes in. She’s planned more than 1,000 honeymoons over the past 10 years and takes the stress out of planning your dream honeymoon. We’ve partnered with her to give Calluna couples their dream honeymoons! She travels all over the world (check out her Instagram!) scouting the best hotels, activities, and restaurants so she can give her clients first hand advice and recommendations. Plus, she spends a lot of time making connections in each destination so that her clients get VIP treatment wherever they go.

Her biggest piece of advice for couples? Pick your honeymoon destination based on your favorite things to do together.

Below, she shares a few ideas to inspire your planning. And if you’re interested in having Katie help plan your dream honeymoon, you can contact her here.

For francophiles who also want amazing beaches: St. Barth’s

What do you get when you mix the glitz and glamour of the South of France with laid-back island vibes? St. Barth’s! You’ll have so much fun driving around the island in a mini Moke, stopping off at stunning beaches, grabbing a bite at one of the incredible restaurants on the island, and exploring the charming town of Gustavia with its iconic red-roofed buildings. Oh, and keep your eyes peeled for celebs at Nikki Beach or Bagatelle. St. Barth’s is a personal favorite of mine (I got married there!) so I have tons of great tips!

For foodies who love big cities: Tokyo

Obsessed with Jiro Dreams of Sushi on Netflix? That’s just the beginning. I visited Tokyo for the first time last year and was in food paradise. Here’s just a taste (no pun intended) of what’s in store: 11-course tasting menus, sake tastings with a sake sommelier, the best French cuisine outside of France, carefully curated cocktails in a 8-seat bar, the best sushi on earth, teppanyaki, tonkatsu, yakitori… the list goes on. Outside of the dining experiences there is so much more to see and do in this incredible city.

For couples that love to be active: Private bike tours

Sure, walking is the best way to discover a new destination, but you can cover a lot more ground by bike. Private bike tours are a fun way to see the world and are available in destinations all over the world, from the lavender fields of Provence and the rolling hills in Tuscany, to the vineyards of Cape Town and rice paddies in Thailand. Pause your pedals to eat and drink with the locals, tour famous landmarks, and take in the breathtaking scenery.

For animal lovers who love adventure: Africa

Africa holds a special place in my heart because it’s where my husband and I went on our honeymoon! We did a mix of Kenya, Tanzania, and the Seychelles, and stayed at Giraffe Manor (a must!), took a hot air balloon ride over the Maasai Mara, and went on safari where we saw lions, hippos, giraffes, zebras, rhinos, and so much more. It is my absolute favorite trip I’ve ever taken and I can’t recommend these destinations enough!

For adrenaline junkies that want to go off the beaten path: Patagonia & Atacama Desert in Chile

Chile has some of the most amazing landscape on earth. First, there’s the Atacama desert (the driest desert on earth) where you’ll swear that you somehow landed on Mars. Among its celestial landscape you’ll find volcanoes, salt flats, sand dunes, and flamingoes roaming around with llamas. And by night you can enjoy the most amazing star gazing! Then there’s Patagonia, where you’ll find Torres del Paine National Park known for its glittering glaciers, ice-blue lakes, rolling grassland, and awesome wildlife. You’ll be able to explore these regions by foot, kayak, bike horseback, and more!

This is just a sample of some of the amazing places in the world we have sent our honeymoon couples- there are many more destinations around the world that we love!  Need assistance with your honeymoon plans? Reach out, we would love to help!
