Real Wedding :: Michelle + Adam’s Boulder Bike Themed Wedding

We always find it special when we are able to be a part of a couple’s wedding day, but we find it enchanting when the wedding is for one of the members of the #CallunaCrew! Last Friday our very own Michelle and her lovely fiancé tied the knot with a lovely Boulder wedding!

The day started and ended flawlessly and we could not have been more excited! Michelle + Adam gave their wedding a sweet personalized spin by adding in a bike theme, which included a gold bike at the entrance of the reception, bike wheels that were used as an escort card display, cute bike center pieces, and lastly bike horns that people used to signify they wanted the couple to kiss! Rachel with A Florae sprinkled in bright florals to the center pieces, beautiful bouquets, as well as striking boutonnieres!

Greens Point Catering met our guests at the Rembrandt Yard after a lovely ceremony at the Sacred Heart with scrumptious hors d’oeuvre and drinks, while the couple went with Ali + Garrett Photography to take some iconic Boulder shots with the Flatirons serving as the back drop. Guests were soon sat for dinner and after dinner guests enjoyed cake from Live Love Treat Yourself! Once dinner was fully wrapped up, Makeshift band kicked off and had everyone on the dance floor!

For a late night snack, guests were greeted by Michelle + Adam’s favorite ice cream truck, Sweet Cow! To top off the entire day, our very own Heather was a guest to the wedding pulling together our #CallunaCrew even more! It was a night to remember and we couldn’t be more excited for Michelle + Adam! Here’s to forever you two! xx, Calluna

Real Wedding :: Katie & Peter’s St Julien Wedding

Katie and Peter are such a fun couple and we were so happy to be part of their special day!  They chose to have their wedding at the ever-fabulous St Julien Hotel & Spa and we couldn’t have been more thrilled. The St Julien never fails to impress and we love any opportunity we can get to work there!

Once again, the weather was on our side as the clouds parted just in time for the ceremony.  Katie’s vision came together seamlessly with the help of the St Julien staff and rentals from All Well Rents. Guests were sat at rounds covered in an ivory linen with lovely gold chargers. The head table was constructed of long harvest tables and adorable cork placards holders. The decor was elegant and made such a beautiful statement!

The gorgeous florals were constructed by Katie’s incredibly talented mother – how neat and such a wonderful personal touch!  One of our favorite parts? The huge spread of delicious treats from Lucky’s Bakehouse and Shamane’s Bake Shoppe! There was even homemade baklava – a nod to Katie’s Greek background. Congratulations Katie and Peter! Stay tuned for the real deal photos, but until then, enjoy these sneak peeks from our iPhones!

Kate + Greg’s Beautiful Backyard Bash

Kate + Greg’s wedding from last summer was certainly one of our favorites. Not only because of the sheer beauty this wedding contained but it also had such an amazing down-to-earth organic feel to it. Kate + Greg really honed into what they held near and dear to their heart during the planning process and incorporated that into their special day! Starting with the garden, the two of them built it from the ground up with a little help from their friends. This garden was exploding with the most beautiful flowers including some larger than life sunflowers that were to die for! Every little detail around every little corner was something that Kate + Greg had thought out, and had incorporated on purpose. That alone is always so special, it really makes a wedding day THAT much more special! We are so pleased to have received the real deal photos from Rebecca Caridad of Manzanita Photography. Take a moment and check them out and if you haven’t had enough of this exquisite couple, head over to Kate + Greg’s portfolio! xx, Calluna

DIY Thanksgiving Floral Arrangement

We’re always on the look out for trending topics, treasures and tablescapes, but get uber inspired when we get take a break from our screens to get our hands dirty and creativity cranking. We were delighted to attend Perfect Petal’s floral design workshop this past weekend – just in time to start thinking Thanksgiving inspiration.

With an expert demo, fresh florals & great company, we spent our Sunday creating the most beautiful arrangement fit for a regal holiday decoration. Pepper berries, orange roses, thistles and an armful of greenery were the ingredients to our flower recipe. We learned to lean on the side of asymmetry, fill the base with sweeping greens and the most important lesson in artistry – there’s no wrong way to create.

We are so happy to have our gorgeous centerpieces grace our dinner tables and are sure it will be the cherry on top of our festive decor. We hope this sparks inspiration for you to try your green thumb at home and curate your own arrangement! If the DIY style doesn’t suit you, we suggest the beautiful, autumn infused  “Chestnut Hills”  from the flower shop as your major holiday wow factor.

Real Wedding: DIY ‘Stellabration’ St. Julien Affair!

What a ‘Stellabration’ it was, as Gemma + Alex tied the knot on Saturday in Boulder at the beautiful St. Julien Hotel and Spa.

As the Maid of Honor gave her toast, she read from emails that she and Gemma had exchanged about the evolution of Gemma’s relationship with Alex.  Everyone’s eyes welled up with happy tears when they heard about Alex’s romantic gesture.  According to the Maid of Honor, Alex filled every room in Gemma’s new apartment with flowers and stocked her fridge with all her favorite foods before she even moved in!  If only everyone could love one another like Gemma and Alex do!

Fast forward to their wedding day … it was absolutely perfect.  We couldn’t have asked for better weather for our outdoor ceremony centered around a handcrafted cone backdrop made by our very own bride Gemma and her darling mother, Elaine.  The backdrop consisted of over 1000 cones strung together, talk about DIY and it didn’t stop there!

As always our phenomenal vendors came together to wow Gemma and Alex in every possible. Every detail was exquisite from one of our favorite florists, Plum Sage Flowers in Denver to Nate and Jenny capturing all of the day’s highlights! The wonderful entertainment ranged from Scott Beach, the Colorado Bagpiper to A Great Time DJ who kept everyone on their feet all night!

Congratulations Gemma + Alex! xx, Calluna

Diffusing Stress :: A DIY Guide To Mala Beads

It’s no secret, life is stressful.

We are truly blessed to live in a place that offers such an accessible remedy as simply going outside and enjoying it!  Try to take some time from your hectic day to be with yourself outdoors enjoying nature.  Go throw on those sunglasses and leave the phone behind for a lunchtime stroll or hike!

Physical expression is another great way to reduce stress.  Whether you prefer popping in those ear buds and hitting the trail for a run, expressing yourself through a dance class, or using meditation and yoga as your release; make sure that you give yourself time during this beautiful but busy planning process.

Another proven way to decompress and gain some peaceful alone time is through mediation.  This doesn’t have to be an extensive time consuming experience; a five-minute meditative sessions can make worlds or a difference.  For those who meditate or are looking to getting into it we’ve created a DIY guide to making your very own Mala Beads.  These are meditation beads that are used for keeping count with reciting, chanting, or mentally your mantra.  A mantra is different for each person and is a sacred utterance, numinous sound, or a syllable, word, phonemes, or group of words to help calm one’s mind.

However you decide to release your stress, keep in mind that a deep breath is one of the most amazing tools in diffusing a stressful situation and that all of the stress should never take you away from the excitement of continuing the rest of your life with the person you love most in this world.
