This week we’re focusing our venue love on the mountains! With views of endless mountain ranges, sweeping valleys, and rivers and lakes, it’s no wonder Colorado is quickly becoming a destination couples flock to! We’ve been so fortunate to plan some amazing weddings and events at these venues and can’t wait for more to come at these breathtaking destinations.

Many of our clients find that the mountains are the perfect destination and love bringing their guests to the beauty of the Rockies for their wedding weekend. We couldn’t agree more! While it feels impossible to narrow down our favorite destinations – please enjoy some of our favorites below!

Xo, Calluna

EAGLE COUNTY (Vail, Edwards, Beaver Creek)

Sonnenalp (Vail, CO)
Why We Love The Sonnenalp: The Sonnenalp is timelessly Vail! This luxury alpine hotel offers a beautiful partly glassed in dining room, that brings in beautiful light for a reception. Picture a ceremony right in front of Gore Creek, followed by dinner and dancing under the stars. It’s the perfect mix of alpine-modern! Ludwig’s glass enclosed terrace is a dream too and is where Meghan and Chris’ absolutely gorgeous reception took place. We are always so excited to be back at the Sonnenalp!

The 10th (Vail, CO)
Why We Love The 10th: This one of a kind venue is an iconic Vail wedding site. With high-quality service and views that *literally* take our breath away, this special destination is so close to our hearts. The restaurant looks over the Gore Range at Vail mid-mountain providing the most epic dance party backdrop you can imagine.

Four Seasons Vail (Vail, CO)
Why We Love the Four Seasons Vail: Nestled in the heart of downtown Vail, you can still come home to the familiar and exceptional caliber of Four Seasons. Call this beautiful hotel a home base for your guests or enjoy one of the many versatile spaces for your weekend celebrations (including their newly renovated ballroom – hello!!). Last year we had the joy of planning Russ + Paula’s wedding reception at Four Seasons Vail with a ten piece orchestra you don’t want to miss out on!

Larkspur (Vail, CO)
Why We Love Larkspur: “Our award-winning restaurant is situated in Vail at the base of Golden Peak and the views don’t get much better. In the winter and early spring, the snowy slopes of Vail Mountain are literally steps away from our patio. From late spring through fall, Larkspur’s lush, green event lawn is surrounded by Aspen groves and stunning views of the majestic Gore Range.” They have both indoor, outdoor patio, and outdoor lawn options, so it is perfect for a reception, ceremony, or both! We loved planning  Zoe + Pete’s and so many other weddings here!

Vail Wedding Deck + Arrabelle Square (Vail, CO)
Why We Love the Vail Wedding Deck and Arrabelle Square: We were over the moon planning Brooke + Christian’s romantic mountain wedding here (look at those views!), and love that the Wedding Deck has 360 degree views of the Vail Valley (!!!). Travel by gondola for the valley’s quintessentially mountain backdrop to say “I Do” for your ceremony and then head back down the mountain to Arrabelle Square. We love opting for the tent so you can dance the night away under the twinkle lights in the middle of the town square – central yet intimate.

Camp Hale (Vail, CO)
Why We Love Camp Hale: Camp Hale is every bit of mountain magic – complete with a waterfront ceremony and a backdrop of 12,000 foot mountain peaks. It’s nestled in aspen and pine trees, and located just up the hill from Vail (about 30 minutes by car). We were so happy we could got to celebrate Abby + Kevin’s big day at this stunning spot. We can’t wait to be back later this summer!

The Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch (Beaver Creek, CO)
Why We Love The Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch: The Ritz Carlton offers a wide range of venues that can cater to each couple! These venues offer a blend of rustic outdoor settings overlooked by mountains, elegant indoor ballrooms, and restaurant and lounge spaces to host smaller intimate affairs. Our favorite? A striking sailcloth tent at the base of the mountain that will quite literally take your (and your guests!) breath away.

Saddleridge (Beaver Creek, CO)
Why We Love Saddleridge: While offering all of the beautiful scenery of Beaver Creek, Saddleridge also offers that authentic Colorado experience, with their vaulted ceilings, western artifacts and mountain views that go on and on! Rich with historical knick knacks, this venue is not your classic ballroom – and we love that. Don’t sleep on Saddleridge!

Beano’s Cabin (Beaver Creek, CO)
Why We Love Beano’s Cabin: Beano’s Cabin in Beaver Creek is a Calluna tried and true favorite. The cabin is nestled on the mountain with a beautiful interior and equally stunning views of the mountain. Beaver Creek is the perfect destination with plenty of delicious restaurants, scenic hikes and adventurous activities! One of our all-time favorite weddings was at Beano’s – check it out!

Zach’s Cabin (Bachelor Gulch, CO)
Why We Love Zach’s Cabin: “Perched on the mountainside high above Bachelor Gulch with the uninterrupted views of the magnificent Gore Range, Zach’s is the epitome of fine dining at its peak.  Guests are whisked away for a starlit sleigh ride, pulled by a Beaver Creek Snow Cat. Famous for its artful assemblage of fresh Rocky Mountain fare featuring the finest regional and seasonal ingredients paired with excellent vintages for the perfect dinner experience.” Need way say more!?!? We were thrilled to have planned Mackenzie + Tom’s winter wedding here!

Park Hyatt Beaver Creek  (Beaver Creek, CO)
Why We Love The Park Hyatt Beaver Creek: A new-to-us venue for the 2021 season, we’ve been quick to fall in love with this hotel at the base of the mountain. We love the versatility of the event spaces (Crooked Hearth for a more intimate feel or rehearsal dinner!) and their ceremony views are something to write home about – whatever the season. We had so much fun planning Jenny + Mason’s wedding here last year, where they skied into their ceremony! It was epic!

PITKIN COUNTY (Aspen, Basalt, Snowmass)

The Little Nell (Aspen, CO)
Why We Love The Little Nell: The Little Nell is the epitome of luxury and getting married here would be an unforgettable experience. Looking for epic views? Check. World class service? Check. A phenomenal party like no other? Check, check check. “The experience waiting for you as you step off Aspen’s Silver Queen Gondola may be reason enough to exchange vows. Floating three miles above the town of Aspen but just steps from The Little Nell, our Wedding Deck is a venue unlike anything else in Colorado. At an elevation of 11,212 feet, with sweeping views of the Elk Mountain Range, it doesn’t get much more romantic.” We loved this top of mountain moment last year at Shelby + Ben’s wedding!

Hotel Jerome (Aspen, CO)
Why We Love Hotel Jerome: “Located in the heart of Aspen with a unique blend of contemporary luxury and historic heritage, deluxe Aspen Resort accommodations, superb amenities, genuine hospitality and dedicated service for an elevated experience in the Rocky Mountains. With stunning views of Aspen Mountain and affording convenient access to downtown, the Hotel Jerome featuring Aspen’s only above-ground ballroom is the ideal event venue for an effortlessly elegant wedding or special event.” We can’t wait to be here next year for Nicole + David’s wedding!

The St. Regis Aspen (Aspen, CO)
Why We Love The St. Regis Aspen: Located at the base of Aspen mountain, The St. Regis will provide your guests with the ultimate “Aspen” experience. A St. Regis wedding means luxury, comfort and unforgettable memories. Just steps away from the slopes and the amazing bars and restaurants of Aspen, the location of the St. Regis could not be more ideal. Page + Scott’s big day was on for the storybooks and we couldn’t imagine a better destination to celebrate them.

T Lazy 7 (Aspen, CO)
Why We Love T Lazy 7: “T-Lazy-7 Ranch is home to three of Aspen’s premier event venues. You can customize your own a twinkle-lit tented reception in the stunning T-Lazy-7 Meadow, or pair a Meadow ceremony with the elegant T-Lazy-7 Event Lodge for the reception dinner and dancing. If you’re looking for a more authentic hoe-down experience, cozy around the campfire at our covered outdoor facility known as the Chuckwagon Grounds. T-Lazy-7 Ranch is a spectacular setting for any event and is surrounded by National Forest and Wilderness for stunning photo backdrops.” We love this place and are beyond thrilled to celebrate our very own lead planner Lindsay + Ken’s wedding here in September!

Aspen Meadows (Aspen, CO)
Why We Love the Aspen Meadows: Say I do in front of gorgeous snow-capped mountains! “The Aspen Meadows Resort offers an unsurpassed level of elegance and sophistication. Everything from the stunning mountain view and warm, relaxing atmosphere to our personalized service creates the perfect backdrop for your special day!” Our lovely Lauren + Eren had their ceremony here then their reception at Aspen Art Museum in April and it was absolutely stunning!

Aspen Art Museum (Aspen, CO)
Why We Love the Aspen Art Museum: “The iconic Shigeru Ban–designed Aspen Art Museum’s Level 3 presents a dynamic and adaptable entertainment space for an array of gatherings (including weddings!) Set atop the internationally acclaimed contemporary art museum and adjacent to the museum’s Roof Deck Sculpture Garden, the AAM’s Level 3 offers unparalleled panoramic views of Aspen’s surrounding Ajax, Red Mountain, and Independence Pass landscapes.” Just take a peek at Audrey + Neil’s wedding and you’ll get why it’s such a dream destination!

Dunton Hot Springs (Dunton, CO)
Why We Love Dunton Hot Springs: Right outside of Telluride, nestled in the San Juan Mountains this up to date ghost town is a Calluna favorite. This intimate property includes hand built log cabins and luxury glamping. Dunton offers a variety of activities around the property and we can guarantee this will be an experience your guests will never forget. Flying Diamond Ranch (Steamboat Springs, CO)
Why We Love Flying Diamond Ranch: This ranch right outside of Steamboat Springs is truly magical. The views are spectacular and the land is vast. Perfect for any nature lover, Flying Diamond is a beautiful blank canvas. “Picturesque aspen groves and open fields framed by forests and mountains with sweeping, majestic views of the Steamboat Ski Area create a stunning space to host magical and very private Colorado weddings, parties, and events.” We are still in awe Brenna + Jeff’s wedding and are so excited for Kendall + Chris’ wedding here this summer!

Devil’s Thumb Ranch (Tabernash, CO)
Why We Love Devil’s Thumb Ranch: The Calluna team adores Devil’s Thumb and consider it one of our most popular wedding venue destinations of the state. The combination of sprawling ranch views for days, onsite guest lodging for a weekend adventure experience, plenty of leisure activities year round and the most beautiful beautiful barn perfect for wedding festivities is the most incredible combination to bring your celebration to life. We’ve planned countless events throughout the seasons in this special place and can’t wait for all the fun to come!

Brush Creek Ranch (Saratoga, Wyoming)
Why We Love Brush Creek Ranch: Our love for this pocket of heaven on earth runs deep. “Time seems to stand still at Brush Creek Ranch, a collection of all-inclusive guest ranches in Wyoming. It’s a place where beautiful sunsets and starlit night skies instill wonder. Immerse yourself with the true spirit of the authentic American West…” Brush Creek Ranch offers the best of both worlds – luxury mixed with the authentic American Western experience – in a way you’ve never seen before. Hampton + Michael, Ashley + Peter, Brie + Ben, as well as O+R are some of our favorite weddings we’ve done at Brush Creek Ranch! We’ll be back at the ranch in just a few weeks for Robin + Marco’s wedding too!

Juniper Mountain House (Evergreen, CO)
Why We Love Juniper Mountain House: “Juniper Mountain House offers a variety of unique gathering spaces. With 10 acres of dynamic indoor and outdoor spaces, we aim to create truly memorable experiences for you and your group of up to 60 people. As a small boutique hotel, we only offer two to three wedding slots per month, which means your day will truly be one of a kind.”

Wyman Hotel (Silverton, CO)
Why We Love The Wyman Hotel: We had the pleasure and privilege to be hosted by The Wyman Hotel, a relatively new boutique hotel in the southwestern town of Silverton, Colorado. The makers behind The Wyman describe it as “a 1902 landmark building which has been reimagined with the comforts and amenities of an urban boutique hotel and is a welcoming, thoughtfully appointed space, perfect for artists, creatives, and adventurers.” We couldn’t come up with a better description if we tried. Each detail was perfectly in place, making our stay feel both comfortable and inspired.  For our clients looking for an outside the box, western chic experience – this is the spot for you.  Read more from our visit here!

Calluna Community: Cocktails With Brush Creek Ranch

Here at Calluna we are always looking for new ways to highlight and honor some of the amazing creative partners we get to work with. We feel incredibly fortunate to work with some seriously talented vendors in the industry, and we want to show them off to you in our new Calluna Community Series! We will sit down with some of the fabulous vendors of Colorado and get to know about them, their business and what life is like behind the scenes. Stay tuned for more!

This week for Calluna Community we caught up with Corinne of Brush Creek Ranch!

Cheers! Xo, Calluna

Describe what you do!

“I’m a Senior Sales Manager for the Brush Creek Luxury Ranch Collection, which includes the Lodge & Spa at Brush Creek Ranch, the Magee Homestead, and French Creek Sportsman’s Club. All three properties are located within twenty minutes of each other in the beautiful Platte Valley in southern Wyoming.”

“We have a small but mighty sales team of three women here at the Ranch. We all sell both corporate and family groups, and I am lucky enough to be in charge of our wedding segment – which is my favorite part of the job”

What is your idea of a dream project?

“I love working with adventurous couples who choose the Ranch not only for its beauty but also for its amazing outdoor opportunities. The activities offered on our 30,000 acres are such a big part of who we are, and it’s a dream to watch couples take advantage of that. We had one bride who was a competitive horseback rider throughout her adolescence and college years – she went on long rides every single day she was on the Ranch. Another couple went fly fishing the morning of their wedding day as it was important to them to share that peaceful time in nature together before the rush of the wedding festivities.”

What has been your favorite wedding that you have worked, or attended?

“I have been able to see so many incredible weddings here at the Ranch, but I think the most memorable ones are when the bride and groom incorporate their family’s culture and history into the weekend. We had one groom with Nigerian roots who hosted a Nigerian-themed dinner for their rehearsal dinner, complete with authentic dress code, menu and music. Another favorite was an Indian wedding, who danced down a hillside to their ceremony, which was in a beautiful remote meadow. We had a bride from Canada who created a “Canadian Tuxedo” theme for their welcome dinner – which touched on her Canadian roots, and was also a perfect look for the Ranch!”

What does your morning routine look like?

“I travel so much that I don’t think I could call most mornings “routine!” One consistent thing is green tea consumption – no matter where I am, I start the day with green tea.”

What are some of your favorite trends that you are seeing?

“I’m biased, but our favorite wedding trend is the increase in destination weddings and non-traditional venues. Our clients come from all over the country, and want a long weekend affair that feels more like a vacation for their guests – the wedding is simply the cherry on top. At the Ranch, after two full days of amazing activities like riding, fishing and hiking, by the time the actual wedding rolls around, you’ve spent so much quality time with your guests that you don’t have to worry about a receiving line or anything like that, and can just enjoy the moment.”

What makes you excited to go to work in the morning?

“There’s obviously a major emotional component to weddings, and I thrive on that. I enjoy building relationships with our clients and getting to know their families. It’s rewarding to see how their personalities and hobbies are reflected in their wedding at the end of the process. Every wedding we’ve had here at the Ranch is truly so unique to the couple.”

What is your favorite cocktail, or what are you drinking tonight?

“I almost always drink beer – is it any surprise that I work on a ranch? I love a good IPA from Teton Brewing Company in Jackson or Bonfire Brewing in Eagle, CO. We’re actually building a brewery at the Ranch right now, so I’m excited for the moment when I can drink a beer that was brewed here on property!”

Top Colorado Wedding Venues | Part Two: Rocky Mountain High

We’re continuing our three part series of our favorite Colorado venues and today we’re packing up our cars and turning up the tunes – it’s about time for a mountain getaway! From Aspen to Wyoming to all the way west of Telluride, we’ve stumbled on multiple pockets of heaven…and we plan to stay awhile. It’s impossible not to fall in love with each venue time and time again, and recounting the beauty in the nine properties below makes us incredibly grateful + giddy to be wedding planners (and devoted Colorado admirers). Enjoy!
**See Part One: Front Range options here and stay tuned for our Part Three: wish-list venues next week.

Dunton Hot Springs – Southwestern Colorado, outside Telluride
Why we love it: Outstanding luxury in tucked away in remote serenity.
We can’t contain our excitement as we prepare to visit Dunton Hot Springs for Meshach + Warren’s nuptials in a few short weeks. This quintessential wedding destination could not be more lovely, quietly and comfortably offering the purest Colorado beauty we’ve ever seen. Their website description sums up the resort experience:  ‘This perfectly restored ghost town thrives on contradictions; hand- hewn log cabins exquisitely furnished, a life-worn saloon serving food of startling quality, lung torturing trails followed by pampering massages, sensuous hot springs beneath shimmering snow banks’. It’s a bit of a drive, but you’ll be transported by beauty.

Brush Creek Ranch – Southern Wyoming
Why we love it: 30,000 pristine private acres to get immersed in the wild, wonderful West.
Named #2 Hotel & Resort in the World, #1 Resort in the U.S and #1 Resort in the West by Conde Nast Traveler for the second consecutive year (wow!), this place is not messing around. A quick jump across the Colorado boarder, the rustic resort has all of the modern fixings to make your wedding more beautiful than you could ever imagine. We are overjoyed to accompany Karen + Jeff for their May celebration, and are already inspired by the natural beauty of this property.

Beano’s Cabin, Allie’s Cabin, Saddle Ridge – Beaver Creek
Why we love it: Classic Colorado beauty coupled with gourmet food and a scenic sleigh ride*.
These three venues are all part of Beaver Creek Resorts; some of our favorite spots to work in all of Colorado. Superior staff and incredible food are paramount at these venues. For our clients wanting the top notch Colorado mountain experience these are some of the best in the state. Equally stunning in the interior as the beautiful outdoors, we are hopelessly in love with Beaver Creek. *In the snowy season the only accessibility to Beano’s is by sleigh. Santa, is that you calling? We’re in love.

Devils Thumb Ranch – Tabernash, outside of Winter Park.
Why we love it: Log cabins, a Civil War era reconstructed barn, and breathtaking views of the Continental divide.
The views are unbeatable, the service is impeccable and if you’re lucky a few horses may make a guest appearance during your photo shoot. It’s the perfect Colorado escape regardless of the season (in fact – winter or summer – we can’t pick a favorite!) Your guests will enjoy a weekend getaway with onsite lodging options and authentic cabins, along with every activity under the sun. We’ve had so many gorgeous weddings here – including Lauren and Brad’s – the first to marry at the High Lonesome Barn. We are thrilled to already have a July wedding on the books!

The Little Nell – Aspen
Why we love it: Aspen’s only ski-in/ski-out resort, filled to the brim with top notch amenities and romantic intimacy.
We were privileged to work alongside some of The Little Nell’s premium culinary talent at the 2015 Boulder Burgundy Festival. We were blown away by their talent & poise, but also their down to earth, happy dispositions, making them a forever friend in the industry. Marry their upstanding service with the stunning hotel + event ground at the base of Aspen mountain, and any celebration at the Little Nell is destined to be dreamy.

Aspen Art Museum – Aspen
Why we love it: Modern museum with a picturesque terrace.
Our first experience with this to-die-for venue was with Jessica + James, who happened to the second couple to be married at the museum! The ultra modern, actively functioning museum presented you with intriguing photo ops every where you looked (trust us, you want to see this stylish affair). The architecture, the clean lines and the jaw dropping views on the wedding deck had us ooh-ing and ahh-ing all day. This one is a high recommendation to the modern sleek bride + groom!

 Spruce Mountain Ranch – Larkspur
Why we love it: All. That. Greenery.
Molly + Nick made it official at Spruce Mountain Ranch last year and we couldn’t have been more pleased with the venue & staff. The cool Colorado charm and abundant space made the Ranch a home run… if you don’t believe us the ariel video posted on their homepage is enough to win anyone over. Between the spacious acreage and the overwhelming greenery we hope to be returning to this venue very soon.

The 10th – Vail

Why we love it: Top-of-the-mountain, flagship Vail dinning experience
This new to the scene sit restaurant + bar has caught our attention – and the hearts of Hadley + Michael who will be saying “I do” atop this idyllic mountain top. Modern with a bit of cozy mountain flair, nature lovers find a little piece of heaven. This venue is exclusively accessible by foot, bicycle wheel, skis or cozied up in a gondola. If you ask us, that pretty much checks off every box we can think of when asking for an authentic Colorado Mountain experience.

St Regis – Aspen
Why we love it: Grandiose Aspen luxury, versatile decor options

We have to admit, when we think Aspen Colorado, we immediately think St. Regis luxury. This travel + leisure staple is a guaranteed grand time, whether you’re looking for a romantic white wedding like Vanessa + Avery’s or a sleek modern tented option like Page + Scott’s affair in the photos below. Our friends at the St. Regis always take care of us, and we’re grateful to have developed a relationship over the years so we can continue the inspired planning!
