Wedding Industry Professionals forecasts trends for 2009
Sunday, February 8
WIPA, a wedding professional organization in California are forecasting the following trends for 2009:
Comfort food with a twist
No bread & butter plates positioned on tables (and we never want to see a pre-set coffee cup and saucer either)
Late night after wedding parties with favorite munchies that the newlyweds love
Destination weddings closer to home – not traveling on planes, perhaps within driving distance
Venues that have “sentimental affiliations,” such as a private girls high school that the bride once attended by day, which turns into beautiful mansion by evening for her wedding
Videos shorter in length that are cinematic and in high definition
Same day edit shown at the wedding after dinner, then streamed on the internet the following week
Contemporary music is making its way into ceremonies
Florals are repurposed and recycled
Color combos of platinums, whites, greens and blacks, in a variety of textures
Weddings are smaller, more intimate and “at home” feeling… goes with the comfort food!
