WIPA, a wedding professional organization in California are forecasting the following trends for 2009:
- Comfort food with a twist
- No bread & butter plates positioned on tables (and we never want to see a pre-set coffee cup and saucer either)
- Late night after wedding parties with favorite munchies that the newlyweds love
- Destination weddings closer to home – not traveling on planes, perhaps within driving distance
- Venues that have “sentimental affiliations,” such as a private girls high school that the bride once attended by day, which turns into beautiful mansion by evening for her wedding
- Videos shorter in length that are cinematic and in high definition
- Same day edit shown at the wedding after dinner, then streamed on the internet the following week
- Contemporary music is making its way into ceremonies
- Florals are repurposed and recycled
- Color combos of platinums, whites, greens and blacks, in a variety of textures
- Weddings are smaller, more intimate and “at home” feeling… goes with the comfort food!
