Real Wedding :: Elise +Steve’s St Julien Celebration

We love our job for many reasons, but to work with an incredible couple tops that list.  Elise and Steve were one of the most down to earth, genuine, good-hearted people that we’ve had the pleasure of working with and we were so happy to be a part of their day!

The ceremony took place on the lawn at the St Julien. As always, the St Julien was on point.  Their customer service is always delightful and we were so grateful for them.  Elise and Steve were surrounded by loved ones as they said their vows in front of large barrels topped with beautiful florals from Yonder. After the ceremony, guests were treated to a cocktail hour with passed appetizers and drinks. Guests then made their way to inside to the ballroom for the reception.

The ballroom was stunning! Yonder brought in their wooden chargers that looked amazing with the golden flatware. Sprigs of greenery garnished each plate, while the floral arrangements were placed in the center of each guest’s table.  The head table had a long, beautiful garland on top of burlap runners. Elise & Steve sat at a gorgeous cream colored love seat that complimented their large head table perfectly!

The Radio Band was incredible, and had the guests on their feet immediately! It was a perfect celebration for such a wonderful couple! We simply cannot wait to see all the amazing images captured by Julie Harris, but until then, check out some of the images we snapped with our iPhones!

Catering by Design’s 20th Anniversary Celebration

We adore each and every one of our caterers and we wanted to give a special shoutout to Catering by Design for celebrating their 20th Anniversary this year! Catering By Design is known for throwing parties that you don’t want to miss, and their #Bash20 certainly did not disappoint.

BASHtwenty took place at Mile High Station this year. Jay’s Valet greeted us at our cars and we love them! They’re always so courteous and professional. At the entry, we were greeted by sweet waffle cones.   If you ever get the chance to attend one of their shindigs, we suggest going hungry.  They’re known for innovative food ideas and they love to showcase their new menus.

IMG_1123

In the center of the room was a suspended DJ booth.  Halfway through the night the booth was raised higher to showcase our favorite food area – the dessert table. It’s so hard to choose a favorite food area, but we have a major sweet tooth in this office, so the dessert table wins.  The table was full of mini banana pudding, tarts, individual chocolate cakes, and a donut cake! That’s right, we said donut cake.

The back lot was tented and had an Andy Warhol-esque vibe.  One side of the room was all about duck. A giant rubber ducky stood as a main attraction for another food station that hosted duck nachos and an amazing duck pasole.

Another favorite among many? The carving station.  There were four different meats they carved from and then layered onto of a beignet in a brown paper bag.  The creativity of this crew is incredible and our mouths are watering just thinking about all of the food! Can we do this again soon?

Congratulations, Catering by Design! We look forward to another wonderful season with you!

Spring Down The Aisle Recap

We are over the moon that Spring Down the Aisle, our bridal show that we helped plan with the St Julien Hotel and Spa and Rocky Mountain Bride, was a major success! The sold out event was attended by both brides and their loved ones, giving them an opportunity to speak and see the work of some of the best in the industry here in Colorado. We always say we are only as good as the vendors we work with, and the vendors that participated in this collaboration completely exceeded our expectations! The tea and show consisted of three different looks that we designed; A Classic Black Tie with a Twist, A Vibrant Floral and a Romantic Ethereal look. Each look turned out better than we could have ever imagined! The fashion show that took place in the afternoon was also a huge hit – featuring trends that appealed to the bride, groom and bridesmaid. The show featured some of the most beautiful dresses and accessories we have ever laid our eyes on! It was an event to remember and we feel so lucky to have been a part of such an amazing bridal show!

The Inside Scoop on Spring Down the Aisle Bridal Tea

We are beyond excited to have the opportunity to collaborate with the St Julien Hotel & Spa, Rocky Mountain Bride, and many other top Colorado vendors for Spring Down the Aisle. What is Spring Down the Aisle you ask? Spring Down the Aisle is a contemporary tea service, blended with a wedding showcase and bridal fashion show.  Brought to you by St Julien Hotel & Spa and Rocky Mountain Bride, this can’t be missed event begins at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27. Soon-to-be brides and grooms, your wedding parties, friends and family are all invited to enjoy St Julien Hotel & Spa’s popular Saturday Afternoon Tea service, complete with teas by Tea Forte, champagne, petit fours, scones, sandwiches, live music and other delights.

All of the vendors involved have been hard at work to bring you an experience to remember and we want to give you the inside scoop! The idea behind Spring Down the Aisle is to give brides and grooms alike an opportunity to meet some of the best in the business while enjoying an event that is staged like a real wedding. We would like to lend a helping hand in your planning and give you some fresh inspiration with looks and tablescapes that are on trend for 2016! In other words, it is our way of showing you the “now” in a fun interactive way!

In the industry we have been seeing three prominent trends for this year and we took inspiration from the runways and added a Calluna spin on those trends! The first look is “Black Tie with a Twist.” With this look we are taking your traditional black tie wedding and spinning it with a brilliant navy blue instead of black. With pops of color throughout and hints of gold, we are sure you will be completely smitten with this classic look!

The second look is a “Floral Vibrant Look” which we have seen explode on the runway and throughout the 2016 trends. We like to think of this look as boho chic meets Kate Spade. It has those vibrant, bright colors and eye catching florals with a modern crisp twist. With white square chargers, ghost chairs, and glitzy white sequin linens,we are confident this look will be a total wow factor!

Last but certainly not least is the “Ethereal & Romantic Look.” This look works well with the 2016 Pantone colors of the year, Rose Quartz and Serenity Blue. We will use these colors throughout this look as well as beautiful soft muted tones curating a subtle elegance that will leave the hopeless romantics swooning!

2016 Wedding Trend Alert: Floral, Food & Fashion

2015 was one for the books, and we are thrilled to have been a part of so many fabulous weddings and events. This past year, we were truly impressed by some of the visions and ideas our clients presented, which we saw beautifully transformed into gorgeous celebrations. We witnessed new trends in fashion, event design, food and florals that we simply adored! With that being said, we are thrilled to see what 2016 brings for weddings, so we have compiled a list of some trends we are ecstatic to see this season.

The Look: Wedding dresses and styles have evolved over the years, and we are loving the revamped styles that have been introduced.

The Food: Lets face it, food is one of the best parts of attending a wedding. With the emergence of “the foodie” bride & groom, we have seen tremendous creativity in wedding menus and meals. 2016 will not disappoint, and we are anticipating some seriously fabulous food moments.

Bridal Fashion Week :: The Inside Scoop

As we all know, Bridal Fashion Week just wrapped up in New York City. Leaving those who took the event by storm completely exhausted and those who didn’t attend wishing they had. Although we were insanely jealous of everyone who attended, we certainly were completely smitten (and even more grateful) by every single post throughout the entire week. We would have given anything to be there for it. Luckily some of our favorite local vendors attended and were happy to share with us the inside scoop! Of course Style Me Pretty gave us a reliable run down, complete with pictures, of what happened in New York and the trends that we need to look out for! Now that we feel more in the loop… sort of, (still wishing we were there in person 🙂 ) we thought we would share with all our lovely Calluna readers. Enjoy! xx Calluna

Little White Dress Bridal Shop told us their favorite trends they saw at this bridal fashion week.

ballet-inspired looks. We saw lots of ballet inspiration in wedding dress design this season, with subtle touches like delicate cross-backs, low scoop backs, and wispy tulle skirts.

Detachable overskirts and trains. Such an elegant and easy way to change looks from the ceremony to the reception without changing into a second dress, many designers are offering detachable overskirt and train options.

Regal style. We loved the modern take on regal style that we saw from several designers (including Naeem Khan), with everything from crowns to sophisticated yet glamorous sleeves and fuller skirts.

Belted backs. The low, open back is nothing new, but this season we saw belted styling on low back styles. This is a great way to accentuate the waistline on plunging back styles.

2014 Trend #1 :: Woodland Weddings

Curious about the 2014 Wedding Trends? Well, we all know entering the new year (even though we can’t believe we are half way through February already!) means new resolutions, new goals and lucky for us — new wedding trends! Spring and summer wedding season is fast approaching, so of course we wanted to start the season off right with The Knot’s 10 Hot Wedding Trends of 2014. Tune in every week to find a new trend – now let’s get inspired!

Woodland weddings starts off as #1 of our 10 week countdown. A modification to the rustic elegance and farm-y DIY events that we’ve seen in years past, this look meshes lush, earthy elements with a touch of unique accessories to keep your wedding looking glam.

Think luscious woodsy venues, lots of nature details: wood, branches, moss, wildflowers – and pair it with just the right amount of sunlight to capture the breathtaking images you’ll savor for a life time. We’re finding inspiration from styled shoots, our Pinterest page, and even of some of our own brides (way to be ahead of the trend, ladies!).

xx,

Calluna Events
